A photo I took in the middle of November:

dsc_6699a.jpg

Note that it looks pretty washed out, the result of being a telephoto shot of mountains ten miles away with a fair amount of haze.

Now, the minimum amount of “fade correction:”

Seems a bit harsh. So, I simply superimposed the original over the “corrected” as a new layer, and set the layer transparency to 40%. And used the clone brush to get rid of the dust smudge up top. And viola…

Not too bad.

Boo-fricken’-hoo. One less scumbag.

The radical Muslim imam linked to the rampage at Fort Hood reportedly is believed to have been killed in a Yemen airstrike that may have also taken out the region’s top Al Qaeda leader and 30 other militants.

The raid in Yemen’s east targeted an Al Qaeda leadership meeting held to organize terror attacks. U.S. officials believe radical cleric Anwar Awlaki was “probably” one of dozens of militants killed in the strike, a source confirmed to FOX News.

Awlaki was once the imam at the prominent Dar al-Hijrah Mosque in Virginia, where the FBI says he had a close relationship with two of the 9/11 hijackers. He fled the U.S. in 2002, eventually returning to Yemen, where he promoted the Iraqi and Afghan insurgencies to a growing religious following in sermons and online.

In an interview posted on Al Jazeera’s Web site, Awlaki said he received an e-mail from Fort Hood gunman Maj. Nidal Hasan on Dec. 17, 2008, “asking for an edict regarding the [possibility] of a Muslim soldier [killing] colleagues who serve with him in the American army.”

Awlaki, who was born in Las Cruces, N.M., said subsequent e-mails “mentioned the religious justifications for targeting the Jews with missiles.” He told the Washington Post in an interview that Hasan eventually came to regard him as a confidant.

It’s a pity that he was an American. It’s a pity that this American decided to turn his back on reason and sanity in favor of evil and madness. It’s no pity that he seems to have gotten turned into Jihadi TarTar. May he be merely one of a great multitude of Islamofascists to come to a sudden surprise pyrotechnic end.

The horses in the field out back a few days ago… horse hair caught on the barbed wire picked up a lot of frost.

Raedthinn’s just a bit big to sit atop that perch, but that doesn’t stop him.

Until yesterday, the local area had been socked in with really thick fog for several days. Just for giggles I took some shots:

The neighbors house:

A road through a farm (looking towards the mountains):

Not a lot to see there. However, the slightest bit of processing using “fade correction” (on the minimum  possible setting) brings out a *lot* of details… including details of dust or something on the cameras sensor:

This is pretty much exactly the sort of artistry one doesn’t see too much out of the aerospace industry anymore. Undoubtedly similar inboard profiles of conceptual designs are produced, but they are done on computers… and while that assures accuracy, it also loses something of the visual appeal.

Young Swedish women more likely to have sex with each other: study

Månsson and colleague Kristian Daneback surveyed 855 young people between the ages of 18 and 24 via an online questionnaire.

The survey showed that 31 percent of young women and 7 percent of young men said that they were most often sexually attracted to people of the opposite sex, but sometimes they were attracted to people of their own gender.

Young women were also far more likely than their male counterparts to act on their same-sex fantasies, with 13 percent of female respondents and 3 percent of male respondents reporting that they have had sex with both men and women.

Ok, yeah, yeah, jokes about hot Swedish chicks. If you want that, get your fill at Fark. The problem here is that if a *third* of Swedens young women are bisexual or outright lesbian, that does a good job of removing them from the breeding population. And it’s not like Europe, or Scandinavia in particular, is doing a really good job of keeping up with the replacement rate.

On the other hand, “immigrants” or “refugees” in such cities as Malmo, Sweden, *are* doing a  good job of replacing themselves. it is thus not too difficult to posit a day in the not too distant future when ethnically and culturally Swedish people are a distinct minority in Sweden. Demographics is destiny.
Welcome to Dhimmitude. And, oh yeah, under Sharia… what you’re doing now, Swedish chicks? That’d be illegal.

Many cans of catfood are marketted as “slices of turkey/chicken/beef/tuna/mastodon/whatever in GRAVY.” Koshka loves the gravy pretty much invariably. Sadly, the special medicinal catfood for kidney does not have any such gravy in it, and she just plain doesn’t like it. So the obvious solution is to mix the gravy in with the special food. But there’s not enough of the gravy in a  regular can of catfood to make that effective, and damned if I can find the same sort of gravy available on it’s own.

Catfood “gravy” appears to be a translucent jelly-like substance, presumably meat flavored. It’s quite a bit different from the normal turkey and beef gravy I’ve bought in the grocery stores, which seems to be a runny substance filled with fat. Sadly, Koshka doesn’t like *this* stuff either. So what the hell is “cat food gravy,” and where can I obtain it in larger quantities?
