This is what happens when you don’t focus on STEM, but instead devote entirely too much attention to feels:

Alternate explanation: a tacit admission that including parents, teachers and students all together leads to education not working at all. One of them will have to be moved out for the system to function.

This one fails on *several* levels. Not only the mechanical impossibility of it, but the fact that the gears are identical. Identical gears mean that, say, Tooth 4 on Gear A hits Tooth 4 on Gear B on each turn, without variation. Which means that as damage begins to accrue, it only builds on itself, and the system starts to shake apart. What you want is a system where every tooth on Gear A hits every tooth on Gear B.This way any damage is sorta smeared out, evening things out and reducing vibration.

Because why not: two diagrams created for the production of the USS Enterprise model for Star Trek: the Motion Picture. These were put up for auction a year ago but did not seem to sell.

It would be interesting to see the complete set of diagrams used to create the model. Heck, what I’d *really* like to see are high-rez scans of the full set of blueprints for the “Cygnus” from Disney’s The Black Hole. Complete gibberish as engineering, but beautiful as artwork.

Some other auctioned-off Enterprise blueprints:

A design circa 1970 for a Lockheed lifting body space shuttle concept. This design was derived from the earlier STAR Clipper stage-and-a-half design from the late 1960s… the whole story of the STAR Clipper and its many derivatives is given in Aerospace Projects Review issue V3N2, available HERE.

Note that this vehicle is equipped with sizable internal propellant tanks. As a result the cockpit is separated from the payload bay; in order to access the payload, the crew would need to pass through a long, narrow tunnel not unlike that within the B-36 bomber.

An advertising stunt:

Payless Opened a Fake Luxury Store, ‘Palessi,’ to See How Much People Would Pay for $20 Shoes

A story we’ve seen before: cheap shoes were presented to “influencers” and “fashionistas” as high-value items, and the goobers actually were willing to pony up the better part of a grand for shoes they could buy for twenty bucks. It’s enough of a cliche that I’m in fact rather skeptical… as well as fake prices and fake staff, I would not be the slightest bit surprised if the place was filled with fake credulous fashion-freaks. Of course, I would not be surprised if they brought in *true* suckers, either. I can believe it either way.

Included in the article were a few videos showing the glittering NPCs that filled the event. Among the stock-standard central-casting female models were a number of presumed-male figures that are, again, a tossup between actors camping it up… or people whose affectations make my eye twitch.

In either event, I suspect I won’t see them in either the manufacturing or engineering fields. and yet despite their general uselessness to society, they’ll make more money than I can imagine.

Hoomans r teh dum.

Kinda surprising, actually. All Marc Lamont Hill did was advocate for the destruction of the state of Israel, with the implied genocide of all the Jews who had the bad manners of being born their in their own country.

CNN drops Marc Lamont Hill after anti-Israel remarks at UN spark backlash

What did he say in particular?

“What Justice requires, and that is a free Palestine from the river to the sea.”

The river he speaks of is the Jordan… Israels eastern border. the sea is of course the Med, Israels western boundary. The “river to the sea” phrase, a common one used by various Palestinian terrorist/genocidalist organizations over the years, is a call to wipe out Israel and replace it with a Palestinian ethnostate. This call was of course met with great approval at the UN, but oddly enough CNN decided that they had a problem with one of their contributors calling for ethnic cleansing. Hill is of course now denying that that’s what he meant, that he “only” wants Israel to retreat back to their indefensible pre-1967 borders, abandon their capital and to bring in enough Palestinians to outnumber the native Israelis.
