A Spanish lawmaker was stunned and horrified to find out that the FBI used his photograph as part of a digitally enhanced image showing what Osama bin Laden might look like today.

Gaspar Llamazares of the United Left party said he would no longer feel safe traveling to the United States after his hair and facial wrinkles appeared on a wanted poster updating the U.S. government’s 1998 photo of the al-Qaeda leader.

What Gaspar looks like, unmodified:

At first I saw his point. But then I read this:

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/22/20100116/tts-uk-spain-politician-binladen-ca02f96.html

LLamazares is a former leader of Spain’s communist party Izquierda Unida and is currently its parliamentary spokesman.

Suddenly my ability to give a damn has evaporated.

Next time if you want to complain about being used… try not being a Communist.

  1. Sorry, that is not his photo, just another lying liar, lying as always.

  2. Yeah, f**k democracy, communists have no rights! I can’t wait to see the next Imperial Reich!

  3. >communists have no rights

They don’t have the right to whine *and* have me give a damn, given that they espouse one of the most evil ideologies ever vomited forth by the mind of psychotics. Someone makes a satirical poster about a Nazi, I ain’t gonna weep to hard there, either.

    > I can’t wait to see the next Imperial Reich!

Don’t worry, Obama and the other American Marxists are working on that for you.

  4. > that is not his photo

Actually, the forehead and hair are clearly his. Though since he’s a communist, his forehead and hair do not belong to him, but to the collective.

  5. You know Hyphen, the funny thing is… in Germany and Austsria nazis are banned, forbidden, prosecuted, etc. But compared to how many people communists murdered Hitler is… a noob. Mao? 70+ million dead people on his account. Hitler can’t even remotely compete there.

    But communism isn’t outlawed.

    WEIRD!

Also, why is it always communists who fight strongest against democracy and free speech? Why ist it ALWAYS the left wing that moves, often brutally, against such ideas? You want proof? Eastern Europe under communism. China. Cuba. North Korea. Or, in Germany… nazis are hunted, the German government even has a budget to hunt them, but left wing extremists can do whatever they want. In Berlin the left wing torched 400+ cars in 2009. In Cologne the left wing beat up Jews (while police watched.) Hmmmm…

And well… Imperial Reich? You realize that “Reich” means “Empire”, right? Wait, no, you don’t. Leftists only scream, but they don’t really know anything.

  6. > why is it always communists who fight strongest against democracy and free speech?

If there has ever been a perfect model of the “rhetorical question,” it’s that right there.

  7. “in Germany… nazis are hunted, the German government even has a budget to hunt them, but left wing extremists can do whatever they want.”

    > Actually, Nazis and fascists ARE left-wing. Just read HG Wells and the Nazi party platform.

As for this guy, while the FBI still shouldn’t have done it, I too find it very difficult to come up with much sympathy for him. Funny how the Communists and Socialists only seem to believe that people should sacrifice for the sake of the collective when it’s OTHER people doing the sacrificing.

  8. Using someone’s face to age another image: is that normal practice?

How did that Spanish face come to be used> Did the U.S. artist know of Llamazares politics?

I understand why he’s unhappy, but how likely is that anyone would notice that? I see the similarity once it’s pointed out, but without an incentive to look for it, I’d never have given it any thought even if I knew both of the faces used.

I’d much rather spend my psychic energy looking at airplane photos. Thanks for the new NB-36H photo.

  9. Nope. Got far too many hours invested in photo recon interp to buy that. Similarities? Yes. Any composite pic is going to have similarities to just about anydamnedbody, that is why composites are such crap for identification purposes.

And no, that is not what Osama looks like now. he looks like a badly done mummy, if he is not crushed under tons of stone in the SE Hindu Kush where he died.

  10. > Nope. Got far too many hours invested in photo recon interp to buy that.

Errrmmmm… it *is* the commies hair and forehead. It’s from the very photo I posted.

  11. this picture reach Spain and Europe Media
while rest of Europe is ROFL
is a heavy diplomatic dispute between Spain and U.S.
    on question:
WHY TO HELL use F.B.I. Picture of Gaspar Llamazares ?!
    more on the “victim”

  12. It was taken randomly from FBI photo archives, there are parts from at least 5 different faces in that pic.
