Shown here are Fingers and Raedthinn. Both are full-grown adults, and I believe siblings (half-sibs, at any rate). Raedthinn spent the first three months or so living in the wild, finally being brought in as a housecat after I heard him yowling in apparently loneliness; Fingers has been a perpetual outdoors cat with occasional indoor priveleges. The difference in what can be accomplished via nutrition is pretty obvious…

An image to give a rough idea what the ringship will look like when completed. Not shown are the two additional connections between the rings… there’s the top connection at the 12 o’clock position, and two more not shown at the 4 and 8 o’clock positions. That should make the model pretty rigid.

Haven’t been out for a hike the past few days. Now that June is here, the weather has not been supportive… it’s been too cold. We’ve been close to getting snow the last several days, here in the Utah desert. A few thousand feet higher than my house, they *did* get snow:

Nevertheless, saw some interesting wildlife, including this surprisingly photogenic butterfly:

It fluttered about 3 feet away and was on a good high perch, perfect for some more photography, when “Frodo” the dog came bounding along. You might be able to judge Frodos energy level by noting just how crisp and clear he is in this photo…

Frodo ran right over the butterfly, which took off and headed for the hills. Oh, well.

Also stumbled across these two fine examples of automotive craftsmanship out in the middle of nowhere. Yes, those are bulletholes. Welcome to Utah.

Taking a photo of a white object with white details ona  white background turns out to not be a recipe for success. Nevertheless, here’s a photo of the ring with some added details. Nothing earth-shattering, just some details to give it a bit of visual impact.

Also, here are some engine-area details, as seen through a magnifying glass:

Been seeing this cat wandering around the last few weeks. It’s not people friendly… just a feral farmcat. Nevertheless, good to see ’em about… they help keep the area varmint-free.

From Fox News: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,363821,00.html

In a quiet, upscale neighborhood in Charlotte, N.C., rows of custom-style homes and neatly landscaped lawns represent the American dream.

But one local resident has shattered that image, calling for the death of American troops in Iraq and supporting Al Qaeda through his Web site, which he reportedly runs from his parents’ home.

In an e-mail sent to FOX News, Khan lashed out at the “arrogance” of the media, saying it should focus instead on converting to Islam. “When you go down in to the earth six feet deep, nothing will matter except what Religion you died upon,” he wrote.

Losers living in their mom’s basement advocating the deaths of Americans and religious looniness. I don’t know about you, but that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Oh, and:

Some years back at the Boeing historical archives I photographed a painting of a Boeing conceptual supersonic bomber. I’ve not been able to dig up any technical info on this design, though.
