Several commenters on that twitter thread point out that the guy comes off like one of those wussy, lazy, unmanly and cowardly soccer players that help to make the game so unwatchable:
This is for those in a particularly *nasty* mood. In short, a thief decides to rob a place, gets surprised by the neighbors, takes a tumble from the second story and impales himself on the spike-topped fence. And doesn’t die… not immediately, anyway, and not before making a lot of unhappy sounds.
Should you feel bad over someone who has been multiply skewered? If it was just some guy, sure. But it seems this feller’s a criminal. So… up to you, I suppose. If the story is accurate, this is a guy who intentionally set out to make the world a worse place, and ended up stuck on top of a gate. Surprisingly strong lungs for someone who looks like he should have steel spikes driven eight inches through at least on of ’em. The people standing around filing him seem pretty nonchalant.
What do we learn from this? Maybe one lesson might be to not be a burglar. Just a thought.

The Supreme Court overturning Roe vs. Wade has brought out the hateful and violent rhetoric of many on the Left in *spades.* Go peruse Libs of TikTok for a plethora of examples of death threats, advocations of assassinations, etc. Far too many to post here.
That said, there is one particular story that is instructive on several levels: a registered nurse claimed that she bases her medication prescriptions not on the needs of the patient, but on their race and politics. Good news/bad news: The bad is that there are such hateful people out there. The good is that they often publicly tout their badness. The double-plus bad is that they feel safe and comfortable doing so, because they know that since they are on the politically correct side, their malfeasance will often be ignored. They can get away with doing what they’re doing.

“Resigned.” Yeah, I kinda expect that she was pushed out the door. And I kinda expect that the hospital now has *all* of their lawyers working overtime, poring through every last record of every last patient this twit had anything to do with. Were you one of her patients? Did anything seem a little off? Were the meds she prescribed not quite right, or didn’t quite do the job? Yeah… lawsuits are coming.

People like this need to be separated from society. if you have such ang4er issues AND impulse control issues… we don’t need you. You are a net negative and a drain on resources.
Is it illegal? It’s certainly fraudulent. And it’s something to watch out for.
Never mind the “let’s bring in cartel money” aspect, which I’m *really* certain is illegal.
Additionally: she is a special kind of stupid for discussing this on a phone call to an inmate, when it is open knowledge that such calls are recorded. On the other hand, she’s a Democrat, so her chances of being reported on by the media, never mind arrested, are minimal.

“Violent clashes” last night between pro-abortion protestors and police. Where? Los Angeles. You know, California. A state which is about as likely to make abortion legal as it is to install a few terawatts of nuclear power in downtown San Francisco.
So last night I went to bed after several hours of both of my blogs looking pretty badly screwed up by n SQL injection attack, and with tech support closed for the night (after having been 24/7 operations for the past twenty-something years… thanks, Covid!). Set my alarm to wake me up to have a doubtless hours-long phone call with tech support… and here we are, both blogs seem returned to normal. Huh.
Anyway, I don’t take *nearly* as many photos these days as I did when I lived in Utah. This place simply doesn’t compare on the natural beauty front. Still, every now and then there’s something that seems worth pointing the phone at, if not grabbing the actual camera.
Part of the back story to my Zaneverse stories set 500 years in the future is that the 21st century turned out to be the most nightmarish century in human history. The Pan Asian Wars wipe out about half the planetary population and trash the rest of the worlds biosphere via pollution and radiation and plagues. Subsequent to that is the European Diaspora as tens of millions of indigenous Europeans flee the continent as it transforms into a third world hellhole, dominated by the Caliphate, feeding into the resurgence of Iceland and the rise of the Texas Semi Autonomous Region. All this is far in the past of the main characters, but it helped establish the world they live in just as the colonization of the New World starting five hundred years ago established *our* world.
This was all supposed to be *decades* in the future, time enough for civilized society to get set up on the Moon, Mars, asteroids, habitats, leading to *some* portion of humanity surviving The Fall at the end of the world at the beginning of the 22nd century. I fear I was too optimistic.
Halfway through the crowdfunding effort, Tomy only has 14.9% of the backers needed. Unless there’s a big surge, I can’t see how this is going to happen. And it’s a damned shame, it looks like a nifty thing. So if you have an extra $600, give it some consideration. If you have an extra $600 but don’t want a big die-cast Enterprise, buy it anyway and send it to me. I’ll give it a good home. Or you could just send me $600 directly. I’d be fine with that too.

I think they just butted up against some historic bad luck. An expensive luxury item in the middle of Bidenomics? That’s just tragic; they’ve likely been at work on this project for a few years, and the timing just plain sucked. I just hope that if this doesn’t go through they don’t throw it all away, but store what they need to safely and try again when things are better. Not sure when that’ll be… maybe year two or three of the DeSantis administration?
