Some poorly reproduced NASA artwork dating from 1959 showing a concept for a space station launched by a Saturn. Note that the artist was a little fuzzy  on what the Saturn would look like (vehicle III). Vehicle IV shows a crude Nova design, while vehicle II shows a two-man Atlas-based space station launcher.

  1. Number III in that top drawing almost looks like a Proton.
It looks like Number IV uses huge solids as its first stage.

  2. I love the “entourage” in the station cutaway view. Clearly showing a misunderstanding of how the human body works in zero-g!

  3. I think the way they are moving around in the station might be due to the dread Magnetic Boots. 😉
Back when they were first designing Skylab it had a electric elevator chair on a pole running between the floors. Someone pointed out that you could just kick off of the floor and float up to the next level.

  4. I like the design. Large, simple.
    Monoblock.
