U.S. Rep. Paul E. Kanjorski then:

This was followed by a reference to Rick Scott, the Republican candidate for Florida governor, who was ousted in 1997 as head of the giant health care company Columbia/HCA, amid the nation’s largest Medicare and Medicaid fraud scandal. The company paid $1.7 billion in fines and civil settlements.

“That Scott down there that’s running for governor of Florida,” Mr. Kanjorski said. “Instead of running for governor of Florida, they ought to have him and shoot him. Put him against the wall and shoot him. He stole billions of dollars from the United States government and he’s running for governor of Florida. He’s a millionaire and a billionaire. He’s no hero. He’s a damn crook. It’s just we don’t prosecute big crooks.”

U.S. Rep. Paul E. Kanjorski now:

Therefore, it is incumbent on all Americans to create an atmosphere of civility and respect in which political discourse can flow freely, without fear of violent confrontation.

What a difference a few months can make. More likely, though, what a difference an opportunity for political grandstanding makes.

From a certain (liberal) point of view. There’s no disconnect between being opposed to violence… and having a gun. That’s why *I* carry a gun…not because I want to get involved in some violence, but because if I did get involved in some violence, I want to be able to get out of it.

But then, this was brought to us by the Huffington Post. Read the comments… it’s clear that the fools who frequent that forum are the kind who think that the way to prevent war is for the United States to unilaterally disarm.

  3. It may be that they really think we don’t remember this kind of thing. It’s probably more likely that *they* don’t remember what they said last week because *this week* is a new opportunity.

  4. More noise Glenn Beck makes, more he gets noticed – meaning more people go over to Fox News to see him, meaning that Fox News goes up in the ratings, and they can sell commercial space on Fox News at a higher price.
People still haven’t figured out that the programs on television are the filler material between commercials, and not the other way around.
The programs are only there to keep you interested enough not to switch channels before the next commercial comes up. 😀
