Snerk. Check out the latest Newsweek cover:

To compare with:

It’s already irritated some people.

The pose Newsweek has put Obama in is a direct copy of an iconic image of Shiva. Where Obama is shown juggling, Shiva is in fact dancing. Specifically a dance known as “Tandava,” representing Shivas role in the cycle of the universe. Perhaps best known for his role in bringing about the destruction of the world.

“I am become debt, the destroyer of economies.”

  1. Say what? Newsweek ought to be ashamed of themselves for even entertaining the idea!

    Jim

  2. I always liked ol’ Shiva.
Vishnu’s job was trying to keep something that was slowly falling apart going as long as possible by trying to fix up its major and minor problems.
Shiva, on the other hand, had the concept that “This whole fucking mess is completely screwed, blued, and tattooed…so let’s start from square one again, shall we?”.
Obama is a lot more like Vishnu than Shiva.
    Ron Paul…now _that’s_ a Shiva. šŸ˜€

    Hillary Clinton?
    Kali.

  3. If they didn’t want to see anyone make fun of him, they should not have run him for President.

  4. I don’t know, I think the picture is perfect, it’s all the things he is in the process of destroying, they just forgot to add NASA onto there, and space exploration in general.

  5. Amazing how one man can be responsible for all of your nation’s ills. Just amazing.

  6. Amazing how you’ve managed to deify that one man.

  7. Deify him? Moi? How? When? The man is a man, fallible as any other. You’re the one who’s put him up on the pedestal – merely so you can knock him down. That a black person made it to the Oval Office is amazing. That so many seem to hate him – not necessarily because of his colour but guess, what? He isn’t a Republican! Despite the Republicans creating the conditions that he inherited. I suppose he could have just sat on his fingers and let the American and perhaps thereby worldwide economy enter a deep depression, which it appears is what you and other Righto’s wanted, not caring as to the damage to peoples’ lives. Did you miss out on the empathy gene?

  8. > Youā€™re the one whoā€™s put him up on the pedestal

Sorry, no, I’m not the one who has repeatedly portrayed him in Messianic terms and images, or like this, as the Hindu god Shiva.

    > Despite the Republicans creating the conditions that he inherited.

Since when has Barney Frank been a Republican?

    > Did you miss out on the empathy gene?

Nope. I also didn’t miss out on the “strategic planning” gene, but I did miss out on the “mistaking wishing for facts” gene. So consequently, leftism is not an option.

  9. > Sorry, no, Iā€™m not the one who has repeatedly portrayed him in Messianic terms and images, or like this, as the Hindu god Shiva.

Know what? Neither did I. So why the claim I had?

    > Since when has Barney Frank been a Republican?

You must have missed who was sitting in the Oval Office from 2000-2008 – the man who was handed by a Democrat Presidenta bduget in surplus?

    > Nope. I also didnā€™t miss out on the ā€œstrategic planningā€ gene, but I did miss out on the ā€œmistaking wishing for factsā€ gene. So consequently, leftism is not an option.

You display more empathy for cats than you do for people. Perhaps if we dressed all the poor up in cat suits you might be more able to identify with them?

  10. You deified the President in this very post. you somehow seemed to think that Bush had some sort of detaield control over the economy, which he did not. Frank’s control over regualtions – and unregualting government agencies – had vastly more control over the economy than anything Bush had to say about it. By makign the ignorant assumption that the President has any real legislative power apart from the veto, you have “deified” the office.

And Bush was handed a surplus budget because the previous administration had been gridlocked by a Congress of the opposite party, and because the housing bubble had not yet burst.

    > You display more empathy for cats than you do for people.

Because cats do little more than what they are bred for. For true, massive greed, evil and stupidity, you’ve got to look to humans.

  11. > You deified the President in this very post. you somehow seemed to think that Bush had some sort of detaield control over the economy, which he did not.

WHAT???? Your reading comprehension needs a real lot of work.

I made no such reference. IF Obama is responsible for all the ills of the US, why wasn’t Bush?

You’re getting crazier with every message, mate.

    >And Bush was handed a surplus budget because the previous administration had been gridlocked by a Congress of the opposite party, and because the housing bubble had not yet burst.

He was handed a surplus and he SQUANDERED THE BLOODY LOT.

And I can’t seem to remember reading too much criticism of Bush from you.

Obama appears to me to have been handed a rather a shoddy hand by his predecessor and is playing it the best he can. He’s tried bipartisanship but you rightos can’t accept that you lost in 2008.

    > Because cats do little more than what they are bred for. For true, massive greed, evil and stupidity, youā€™ve got to look to humans.

Immaterial. Every post you make is critical of other people but you appear to squander what little empathy you may have on cats.

If I was able to, I’d sentence you to several weeks work at the shelter for homeless people. If we covered the word “people” with “cats” you might find it easier…

  12. > Your reading comprehension needs a real lot of work.

    > I made no such reference. IF Obama is responsible for all the ills of the US, why wasnā€™t Bush?

Ah, now we get to the heart of the matter. Nowhere have I said that Obama ‘is responsible for all the ills of the US.” That was *your* fantasy. Since you proceed from such a tantastically false assumption and run with it, then I can attribute to *you* any damend thing I dream up. Therefore, you clearly worship at the altar or Almighty Obama. Probably sacrifice chickens and small children to him as well. Why do you do that?

    > Youā€™re getting crazier with every message, mate.

    I’m not your “mate,” buddy.

    > If I was able to, Iā€™d sentence you to …

Ah, the socialist dreams of tyranny. How drearily cliched.

  13. > Ah, now we get to the heart of the matter. Nowhere have I said that Obama ā€˜is responsible for all the ills of the US.ā€ That was *your* fantasy.

No fantasy of mine. I asked why he should be considered responsible for all those ills. Which is what you were attempting to imply.

    > Iā€™m not your ā€œmate,ā€ buddy.

And I am no “buddy” of yours, mate. When you spreak my language you’ll understand the import of the term “mate”, mate.

    > Ah, the socialist dreams of tyranny. How drearily cliched.

No more than your fantasies of imposition of your world order on me. A good sentence of community service could help reawaken your complacent empathy genes. However, I don’t hold out hope.
