I guess they didn’t need the junk after all. Israel should put the stuff on eBay now.

Hamas refused on Wednesday to allow the aid equipment that was captured by the IDF aboard the flotilla ships earlier this week to enter the Gaza Strip.“We refuse to receive the humanitarian aid until all those who were detained aboard the ships are released,” said Ahmed Kurd, Minister for Social Welfare in the Hamas government said. “We also insist that the equipment be delivered in its entirety.”

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
You’re a bit late to the party on that. As I understand it, Israel agreed to release all the detainees from the flotilla and Hamas took the stuff.
> Israel agreed to release all the detainees from the flotilla…
… into the sea? Take a lesson from the Russians!
Not like Hamas really gives a damn about the hippies anyway. Given the chance, Hamas would have ’em lined up against the wall right next to the Dirty Jooooooooooz.
I don’t have any sympathy for Hamas, but I can’t muster any sympathy for how Israel handled this one. They asaulted the boats in international waters, that pretty much makes it piracy. Rather than stopping the boats and searching them in the daylight when they came into their protected waters they decided on an armed assault at night. It’s hard to believe in the castle doctrine and not come to the conclusion that the people on the ships had the absolute right to blow the heads off those commandos. The small arms used agains the commandos weren’t on the boat, they were taken from the commandos so the “they were armed” argument is bull. Then there turned out to be no contraband in the cargo and they delivered it anyway.
> no contraband in the cargo
As memory serves, there was cement in the cargo. That’s contraband.
As memory serves, there were knives, stones and slingshots in the cargo. That’s definitely contraband, probably for the PR purpose of having the Gazan kiddies throw stones to a CNN soundtrack of how evil the Israelis are for hurting these poor kids so horribly. As for guns, reports indicate that casings have been found which do not match the Israeli weapons.
There were also dual use chemicals in the cargoes, another violation of UN directives placed on materials shipped into Gaza. As for hitting them in international waters. according to the UN, enforcement of blockades outside of territorial waters is not only legal, it is how UN wants blockade enforcement done. Keeping such activity outside of territorial waters of the involved entities keeps it from becoming simple direct seizure, or piracy. And UN has personnel directly involved with IDF in the enforcement of this legitimate blockade.
Israel is following the rules outlined by the United Nations, and is, yet again, being condemned for doing so.
Maybe you are all to youg to reeber the Cuban Blockaid the te American did.
Yea, Dad, I do remember, because it is still going on. And the bestest part of all?!?!? Fidel was free to trade with EVERY OTHER nation on the planet, and he kept the people of Cuba in enforced poverty for all these decades out of petty spite. What a f**king cowardly dick. Just like all of HAMAS and Hizzbullah and the Arab League of Nations. Venal, cowardly, a$$holes who keep the populations of their countries in poverty, ignorance, and on the borderline of starvation, all because their “god” says they can.
