Now that spring seems to be here, the hawks and falcons are returning. Last year they *left* for the winter just before – as in a *day* before – I got the Nikon D5000 camera and zoom lens. Together at last…
This is one of the critters in the tree across the road.
I think that there are two different birds, but I’m uncertain.
> Are they still eyeballing the cats?
As far as I can tell, no. Last year they were eyeballing *kittens,* and now those kittens are cats, somewhat less tempting targets. When I walked across the street yesterday to take those photos, two cats followed me (it’s an odd realization that you are actually leading cats), and play-fought right under the tree with the hawk; the bird didn’t seem interested in ’em. Note: when I returned across the street, the cats again followed me.
beautiful 🙂
I’ve watched them just cruising the thermals on a hot summer day. For all the world they looked like they were on a joyride.
A great story about a golden eagle vs crow battle here: http://norunnyeggs.com/2010/01/barron-wi-battle-eagle-v-crow/
Very nice. Some of those will make nice phone wallpapers.
Is there a mate in that equation? Or still solo at this point?
