Convair Model 44: you just don’t see art like this anymore

Certainly not in Powerpoint. The Model 44 was Convair’s entry in the VFX program, which led to the F-14.

    I can’t help but think F-111 when I look at it, but just the same the art does look great. I take some pride in being able to do a half-decent drawing, but I’ve never done anything like that.

    Looks like the MRCA Tornado.
    The position of the 20mm Vulcan under the fuselage is interesting also.
    Could they hang four Phoenix missiles on this thing’s underside? It almost looks too squat for them to fit.
