… according to the New York Times, at any rate. They have published a “gift guide” to help you shop for the non-white people in your life. Because Odin knows they wouldn’t want a DVD player, a Wii, a stack of cash or some home-made knickknacks.

Of Color | Stylish Gifts

Somali fashion, do-it-yourself henna kits, children’s books that draw inspiration from the lives of Barack Obama and Sonia Sotomayor: it’s not hard to find gifts created for and by people of color this holiday season. Here are some possibilities.

I have some suggestions of my own:

  1. I forget where I read this, but I once read a book where a black man was quoted as essentially saying, “At least in the days of slavery and Jim Crow, the white people didn’t expect us to say ‘thank you’ afterward.”

This stuff is just stupid. A few of the things listed, like skin-tone specific makeup, at least makes sense and actually is a good race-specific gift idea. Most of the rest however, is just condescending and every bit as racist as it would be if someone bought a t-shirt saying, “Smart white male”.

  2. NYT, bastion of racism since 1851. Funny, they decry any mention of race, except when they are spewing the leftarded Democrat talking points. Do as I say not as I do, or I will have you arrested and burn down your house/business.

  3. “Stuff White People Like” and its associated web site are a hoot BTW.

  4. Of course, this reduces the colored folk to a status akin to that of animals in a zoo. They do seem to enjoy that, or so it appears to me based on my university experiences.
One wonders what would happen if they were treated as humans, and to the same standards forced on non-colored folk.
