Yeah, this’ll be a blockbuster:
From the Guardian:
Producer Barrie Osborne cast Keanu Reeves as the messiah in The Matrix and helped defeat the dark lord Sauron in his record-breaking Lord of the Rings trilogy. Now the Oscar-winning American film-maker is set to embark on his most perilous quest to date: making a big-screen biopic of the prophet Muhammad.
Budgeted at around $150m (£91.5m), the film will chart Muhammad’s life and examine his teachings. Osborne told Reuters that he envisages it as “an international epic production aimed at bridging cultures. The film will educate people about the true meaning of Islam”.
<> Osborne’s production will reportedly feature English-speaking Muslim actors. It is backed by the Qatar-based production company Alnoor Holdings, who have installed the Muslim scholar Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi to oversee all aspects of the shoot. In accordance with Islamic law, the prophet will not actually be depicted on screen.

Well, that’s a bore.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
I recall another Muhammad biography film did the same thing many years ago – and was met by violent protests. In today’s environment, I wouldn’t be surprised if the fundamentalists went beyond riots.
I hope he manages to go through with the whole thing, because I think the Muslims need their metaphorical cage rattled. However, if he’s not even showing Muhammad on the screen, I’m not sure how much good the movie will do in terms of educating people about Islam or exposing how dangerous the ideology can be. Far more likely that the movie will be of the cultural relativist, “all cultures are equal and have something valuable to offer” school.
Needs to show MooHamed molesting that 9 year old, and murdering the wives and children of his political opponents. Be factual and accurate.

As the Guardian article points out:
“an international epic production aimed at bridging cultures. The film will educate people about the true meaning of Islam”… “It will highlight the humanity of Prophet Muhammad.”
In other words, it will be a pro-Islam propaganda piece even while it annoys the bejesus out of the Muslims. That’s WIN and FAIL in one neat little package.
Nothing can possibly go wrong with this plan.
Well they’ll have to rate it R if they’re to depict the “true meaning of Islam” what with all the beheadings, and chopping off of various other body parts and such.
“The film will educate people about the true meaning of Islam”
Submission?
Murder?
Oppression?
No human rights?
No women’s rights?
Most likely not.
Instead they’ll tell us “Islam is peace” full of Newspeak and following the PC nonsense that is running rampant in our world.
And I didn’t even have to actually read the Guardian article
I don’t think they’ll be able to show the film in any Western theater. I mean, we’ve got some very stringent rules about child pornography and any film which depicts a man having sex with a nine year old girl will be beyond the pale.
What? Oh, they won’t include that little detail? Oh. Nevermind…
