James Gunn Fired From ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Franchise Over Offensive Tweets
He made a bunch of bad jokes on Twitter years ago, and they jumped back up to bite him. A reasonable person can look at this any of a number of ways:
One Hand: They were jokes made a *long* time ago. And it was obvious that they were jokes. Are we still in the phase of “let’s destroy people without any real reflection over trivial nonsense?”
Other Hand: These jokes weren’t just bad. They weren’t just offensive. They were jokes making light of pedophelia. And, ok, maybe he just liked being edgy. But he sure made a *lot* of these jokes. Enough to make you go “hmmm…”
So, you can feel free to take either side. However, be aware that Gunn himself has justified his own firing:

I wish some of these so-called defenders of liberty would start to understand what freedom of speech is AND isn’t. Roseanne is allowed to say whatever she wants. It doesn’t mean @ABCNetwork needs to continue funding her TV show if her words are considered abhorrent.
