Two shot dead after they open fire at Mohammad cartoon event in Texas
Two as-yet unidentified “gunmen” opened fire outside of the Culwell Event Center in North Garland, Texas. The event center was hosting the “Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest” sponsored by the American Freedom Defense Initiative, with several hundred cartoons of Mohammad tryign to win the $10,000 first prize. The two shooters managed to hit a security guard in the leg before they found out first-hand that Texas security guards tend to be both armed and at least modestly trained.
As of this writing it’s not confirmed whether or not the shooting had anything to do with the event. And even if so, it’s not yet confirmed whether or not this was a political/religious attack, or if maybe they were just trying to rob the joint. However, it seems that some speculations about motive can be considered reasonable.
The car used by the shooters is being examined by a robot in case it has a bomb in it.
