The hilariously named “Mariana Torch Tower” in Dubai is on fire. Rather spectacularly so. It’s a modest 79 stories tall, so that’ll make fire fighting efforts entertaining.

I have heard some interesting things about building codes and construction workmanship (by foreign workers who are often little better off than slaves) and use of materials in the UAE.
