The current collection of B-2-related designs for “US Bomber Projects,” now with updated Senior Peg fuselage contours. Same planform, less tubby.

See here for how I got the Senior Peg planform.

UPDATE: rescaled the Northrop ATA per information provided by Abraham G.

  1. Thanks for including the Northrop ATA proposal in the B-2 family drawing. I like to think that if the Navy hadn’t insisted on a fixed price contract, Northrop would have won and gotten the ATA flying due to their previous work in LO and composite structures. Then again, the Navy’s schedule for ATA was unrealistic to begin with.

It would sure be nice if somebody did a 1/72 scale kit of the Northrop ATA to park next to my Anagrand A-12 (hint, hint.)

  2. Are you sure you have the scale right? Stevenson’s “The $5 Billion Misunderstanding” quotes the NAVAIR technical review for a Northrop ATA wingspan of 80 feet. Which considering the folding wing tips is as big as you are going to land on a Nimitz class carrier. Your picture has the ATA at 2/3s the B-2A’s wingspan or >110 feet.

That’s info I didn’t have (I don’t have that book). I based the sacel off of wing panels that looked to be the same as B-2 wing panels… but which I guess must be scaled down. Any other information on the design given in that book?

  4. What’s the last Northrop aircraft on the right? It appears to be a split between the B-2 and the alledged “SENIOR CITIZEN” SOF transport.

  5. That’s exactly what it is. An incomplete reconstruction of the Senior Citizen, using a B-2 as a starting point. I’ve been having some difficulties with is, since the few bits of art that are available are untrustworthy and produce some strange results (like having the center of lift for the fans being apparently well ahead of the CG of the aircraft)
