Well, how about that: for once, the rumors turned out to be right:
Scientists capture first ever signal from the beginning of the Universe
The little black lines represent polarization of the cosmic background radiation. It’s a little obscure. but what we’re seeing here is the polarization of photons brought about by gravity waves basically at the moment of creation. This – apparently – provides evidence confirming the concept of inflation. I admit to being just a little fuzzy on the specifics, but the people who know about such things seem pretty excited.
Once again, science made predictions, and they were confirmed. That’s how it works.
The reports are that physicists around the world are expecting to see this team showered with Nobel prizes. The *good* Nobels… “Science,” not “Peace,” which they hand out to just anybody.
