Crowdsourced air defense: a success in San Francisco?

The pilot of the Asiana 777 that crashed in San Francisco is claiming that he was blinded by a bright flash of light shortly before landing. If true:

1) It *might* indicate someone zapped the plane with a laser

2) There’d be evidence on the cockpit voice recorder. Something like “Ahh! My eyes!!!”
