One-Eye is currently luxuriating at the veterinary clinic, awaiting her operation. But she’s not alone: Buttons is also at the vet. In the last few days it has become clear that he has some sort of medical trouble of his own… can’t seem to pee (lots of effort, little result). Hopefully it’s nothing major. The house is a lot quieter without him in it running around like an idjit.

Relevant If You Want It To Be: I have added a “tip jar” off to the sidebar. It should now be simplicity itself to toss a buck my way if you’re of a mind to.

So, lets say you are in the business of herding large animals, and you’re getting kinda tired of them wandering out into the road and night and gettign whacked by cars. What to do, what to do…

Finland: Reflective reindeer horns aim to stop accidents

It’s an interesting idea… spray their antlers with reflective spray paint. Under normal lighting, or darkness, it won’t much change the appearance of the beast, but when bright lights are aimed at it, it’ll light right up like a street sign.

Ummm. The best space news story of the day.

Kate Upton poses in zero gravity conditions wearing a tiny gold bikini for Sports Illustrated

Ahhhhrrrrrmmmm…
George-Takei-oh-my
Ahem.
There are, of course, photos at the link. There may be some photoshoppery afoot. But there is also a video. It looks like she was having a blast bouncing around inside the plane.
Well… maybe *this* sort of thing will inspire public interest in spaceflight….

Around 1990, the US Navy considered an F-14 replacement based on either the F-22 or F-23 designs, the Navy Advanced Tactical Fighter (see Aerospace Projects Review issue V3N2 for a whole lot on the Northrop NATF-23). The Lockheed NATF-22 designs seems to have never been fully nailed down, but instead was constantly in flux. But the basic idea was that it would be a navalized version of the F-22 with swing-wings akin to those of the F-14. However, the Navy gave up on the idea in 1992.

Side note: if anyone might happen to have good data on the NATF-22 (more than the stuff that showed up in magazines and such at the time), please contact me.

So, you’re a PR firm. A client comes to you with a new mac & cheese product with the pasta shaped like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and asks you to come up with a commercial for them. So… what better than a flash-in-the-pan cultural figure from a quarter century or so ago?

What makes this work, though, is the kids reaction to seeing his mom  go bugnuts with someone he doesn’t recognize and who says something that must sound truly odd.
