The second of two pieces of full-color artwork photographed at the archive of the Ira G. Ross Aerospace Museum in Niagara Falls. Both of these were painted on thick matt board.

It was a rare joy to find (well, “be shown,” to be more precise) not only color artwork of an early Dyna Soar concept, but the *actual* artwork. There are a whole lot of crappily reproduced black and white artists concepts for the Dyna Soar and other programs… and for every one of these sad remnants, there was, and might still be, a full-color painting that some talented artist worked away at. Sadly, chances are that many if not most of these works of art have been destroyed. The art tends to remain the property of the company that paid to have it produced… and for the most part, companies don’t give a damn about preserving such things. Art takes up space.

Son says bin Laden sea burial demeans family

“We hold the American President (Barack) Obama legally responsible to clarify the fate of our father, Osama bin Laden, for it is unacceptable, humanely and religiously, to dispose of a person with such importance and status among his people, by throwing his body into the sea in that way, which demeans and humiliates his family and his supporters and which challenges religious provisions and feelings of hundreds of millions of Muslims.”

Hmmm. Let me ponder just how deeply I should care about how upset Osama’s fourth-oldest brat is that dear old dad was dumped off the USS Carl Vinson like so much month-old Spam.

Check after the “Continue Reading” for my (NSFW) response.

I’m contemplating getting a CafePress account to sell posters (my photos + aerospace art). Has anyone had any dealings with CafePress posters, either buying or selling? What is the quality like (paper, printing, resolution, shipping)?

UPDATE: I went ahead and got a basic shop:

http://www.cafepress.com/Scottsstuff2

Good for a grand total of one image, which you can get on variously sized posters, prints, greeting cards, etc. And that image is:

I figure if any of my photos is likely to be popular, it should be this one.

Support the cause!

Not the best job of composing the individual photos in preparation for turning into a panorama, but it gets the idea across. This here is Red Rocks Amphitheater just west of Denver. The amphitheater itself is hidden in amongst the large red rocks on the left. The scale of these rocks can be estimated by a few items:

1: the cars at lower left and far left

2: The building in among the rocks

3: The porta-potty in the parking lot.
