This time, a halfway split between a tiltrotor and a tiltwing… a single tiltable prop on each wing, with sizable wing panels outboard of that that tilt with the prop. This would allow the outboard panel to retail some control authority while in hover, and would reduce the drag (and thus loss of effective thrust) created by having the large wing entirely face-on to the props downwash. Unlike the V-22, the engines are not in the outboard nacelles, but are located in a row atop the wing center section.
“I’m an ultra conservative,” he said at Moet & Chandon’s 6th Annual Hollyshorts Film Festival Opening Night Celebration in Los Angeles.
“I’m not a G** damn Hollywood liberal, I’m not,” he said, adding he only watches Fox News.
Caan, who was at the event promoting his involvement with the online platform Openfilm.com, also added that he doesn’t think Hollywood actors need to comment on every single political issue.
The news media is going bonkers over the news that former Alaska Senator Ted Stevens was killed in the crash of a small plane. Fair enough. But if you *really* want to get to the meat of the story, you’ve just got to read this hard-hitting article:
Update during 1:54 p.m. ET: The Anchorage Daily News reports thats the family crony as well as former help who progressing had pronounced Sen. Ted Stevens had died in the tiny craft pile-up in Alaska right away quotes him as observant which the inform is unconfirmed. Dave Dittman told KTUU TV progressing which he had perceived an overnight call which Stevens had died.
But today, Dittman is observant he’s not sure. “That’s what we listened final night, though it’s not been confirmed,” Dittman tells the Daily News. “I’ve talked to family members this sunrise as well as people with the family who pronounced it hasn’t been reliable to them either.”
Well, obviously!
I’m guessing that this is a Google translation of a non-English report. Very possibly the result of translating an English language report into Foreignese, then into Engrish. If you go to the top of the webpage, it appears to be a webpage dealing with car insurance… but the Engrish is so damned bad in *all* of it that’s it’s really kinda hard to tell.
Representatives and Senators should never be allowed to pass a bill they haven’t bothered to read. This should be obvious enough. But still they vote away for things they don’t understand, and in fact can’t be bothered to understand.
It has now gotten so bad that they vote for bills they haven’t even bothered to name.

Take a look for yourself. Down toward the bottom of this page in the Congressional Record, it says, “SECTION 1. This Act may be cited as the “_______Act of______”. (The Library of Congress’ Thomas reporting system picked that up as the “XXXXXXAct ofXXXX,” so that’s how it shows up on our site.)
Well, THAT’s the amendment they brought up and passed, so the new name of the bill is the “_______Act of______.”

Since I’m posting a link to it, you can guess how successful it is.
It sure looks real, but I can’t get past the suspicion that it’s staged. Anyone know for sure? What is “RTC Live?”
Somewhat like the preceding tilt-wing C-130, this concept called for a wing that would tilt only a few degrees, but would have a complex series of extendable flaps on the trailing edge. On the underside of the wing, this would force that portion of the thrust directly downwards. On the upper surface of the wing, the Coanda Effect would do much the same, directing the thrust downwards.
Note that while the turboprop engines are mounted slightly above the leading edge of the wing, the props themselves are located well below. This was done to locate as much of the thrust below the wing as possible, and to have the bulk of it directed against the flaps. A complex and almost certainly prone-to-malfunction series of gearing would be required for this. As with the tile-wing, this version would not be able to take off or land conventionally, and the prop-rotors would hit the ground unless the wing was tilted up.
Tonight the phone rang; when I picked it up there was silence. I said “hello” a few times then hung up, and went about my life (such as it is). A bit later I looked at the caller ID thing (on another phone) and the caller was listed as PHONE SCAM. An odd name to go under. So I looked up “phone scam” and 567 (the area code) and lo and behold, I found multiple references to this exact phone number. Such as here:

Seems to be an enthusiastic but almost wholly incompetant credit card phishing operation. Huh.
OK, with all the recent discouragements, disappointments and disasters, I can only assume that this is an omen for an immanent zombie apocalypse: I’ve got a job interview for a *good* job in Maryland, exact schedule to be determined but sometime later this month. Since this job would both fulfill my need to design *and* would very likely take care of my financial worries, this must mean that the planet is soon to be engulfed in some horrific Lovecraftian nightmare.
Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
