The Ukrainian “Alligator” seems handy for taking out targets a few kilometers away…
In 1964, the US government dumped around a quarter million M-1 carbine “assault weapons” onto the US market, complete with 15 or 30 round magazines. They were available to anyone who wanted one, no background checks needed, no waiting period; they cost less than $100 for most people, or $20 if you were an NRA member. And what happened? Mass shootings, schools blown to bits, synagogues reduced to bullet sponges? Nope.

Access to “weapons of war” was a lot easier then than now. Access to madness is easier now than then.
A Russian surface to air missile recently failed rather spectacularly, turning around quickly in flight and seemingly tried to go home.

This sort of thing is not terribly unusual. Here’s a Saudi Patriot missile taking a detour:
Extremely high velocities, perspectives and vast distances can be a hard thing to grasp… but this REALLY scarily puts the velocities of missiles and rockets into perspective! 😳🤯 this is a Saudi Patriot missile failure 😱 genuinely terrifying! (source unknown) pic.twitter.com/8ucrfkuGRh

Lotsa F-bombs… and lots of good points.
Suggestion: anyone now suggesting gun control should be hauled up in front of the January 6 commission on suspicion of anti-American insurrectionism.
Supreme Court expands gun rights, with nation divided
In short: the USSC recognized that New York’s law prohibiting citizens from being able to defend themselves when they are not huddling in their home fortifications is unConstitutional. Unsurprisingly, it was a 6-3 decision, with Breyer, Sotomayor and Kagan caming down on the side of authoritarians and civilian enfeeblement.
And speaking of feeble:
President Joe Biden said in a statement he was “deeply disappointed” by the Supreme Court ruling, which he said “contradicts both common sense and the Constitution, and should deeply trouble us all.”
Justice Thomas was a voice of reason:
…wrote for the majority that the Constitution protects “an individual’s right to carry a handgun for self-defense outside the home.” That right is not a “second-class right,” Thomas wrote. “We know of no other constitutional right that an individual may exercise only after demonstrating to government officers some special need.”
The garbage human-simulators currently plaguing society are predictably upset that civil rights supersede authoritarianism:
It has become necessary to dissolve the Supreme Court of the United States.
The first step is for a state the "court" has now forced guns upon, to ignore this ruling.
Great. You're a court? Why and how do think you can enforce your rulings?#IgnoreTheCourt

As the extremist Roberts Court strikes down gun-safety measures—it's urgent for us to act at every level of government
Today, we'll finally take steps to loosen the gun lobby’s grip and pass a law that'll save lives
And we'll keep working—More must be done to fight gun violence pic.twitter.com/wO3JGnP5bk

Today’s #SCOTUS ruling is disappointing & disturbing. I’m now even more motivated to quickly pass my bill, #AB1594, so that private citizens & govts can sue the gun industry for the harm their products cause when CA’s strict gun laws are not followed. https://t.co/PXFyxWoZ7t

In the wake of the Uvalde and Buffalo mass shootings, the Supreme Court has struck down a nearly 100 year old New York gun safety law. This is a direct result of Trump’s appointment of politically driven, conservative justices.

I imagine Libs of TikTok will have a bunch of entertaining meltdowns from the NPC crowd.
A Napierville (near Chicago) police officer has pulled over a car for running a stop sign and is talking with the driver when *another* car pulls up and the driver of that car launches himself towards the cop, wielding a hatchet. The cop puts him down *real* fast.
The big question is WTF was Edward Samaan, the weirdo in this tale, thinking.
The full dashcam, no meaningful audio:
The full bodycam footage:
Bet that civilian driver had one *hell* of a story for his friends and family later that day. I kinda hope he got let off with a warning; the interaction between the driver and the cop was seeming to be cordial and respectful. He blew a stop sign, which ain’t good… but I think watching a maniac get put down might be considered adequate.
One thing I’ll never understand is on display here. The Bad Guy gets shot multiple times in the torso/abdomen. He is *down.* It’s unclear whether he’s conscious; it’s quite clear that he is very, very incapacitated. And yet the cops that gather around keep shouting commands at him to roll over onto his stomach. Dude… he ain’t doin’ nothin’ nohow. He’s *done.*
Bringing fists to a gunfight? Stupid. Squaring off against a guy with a gun and telling him to shoot you? Double-plus stupid.
The first video may be “potentially sensitive,” but it’s worth watching, especially if you want to see how *not* to behave.
background for the video, the guy with the gun is outside his house and had put a restraining order on a neighbor and so at 5am he waits for him wanting to "scrap" as he pulled his shirt off he had a knife in his pocket following with the "imma take that gun from you". justified pic.twitter.com/M8C1NDE0S4

A YouTube video of the same incident, same videos. Explains that this was adjudicated a legal self defense shoot, as well it should be. If you’ve drawn a firearm on someone and they advance on you… that alone is evidence that they not only mean you harm, they’re out of their fricken’ minds.
You can listen to the shooter’s story HERE.
“Red Flag Laws” are *supposed* to be a way to temporarily disarm people who are a danger to themselves or others. Who could argue against them? Well… anyone who has ever noticed that they are not based on due process. They are not based on sober judgement of people who understand the gravity of depriving a person of their Constitutional and human rights. They are, sadly, based on the whims of people who have, and like to exercise, power. Witness:
>I am not in principle opposed to red flag laws.
You should be. https://t.co/g7PDvOlf4D

Remember, Eric Swalwell is the Representative who not only bedded a Chinese Communist spy and did untold damage to the US (with no repercussions as far as I can tell), he’s also the guy who thought it would be a good idea to threat American citizens who do not wish to give up their rights. Threatening to use *nuclear* *weapons* on these citizens. Do you think it would be a good idea to turn over the power to deprive a citizen of their rights to a man with judgement like that?
Ian from Forgotten Weapons takes a reproduction China Lake 40mm pump action grenade launcher to the range. Conclusion: it’s finicky and slow, with lots and lots of malfunctions… but also a hoot to shoot. It’s not something that’s at all practical for civilian use, and it clearly requires some tinkering to dial in. Still… it looks like all kinds of fun. Perhaps after the pendulum swings back to sanity WalMart will carry the production version.
