I have a big fat pile of early Space Shuttle wind tunnel test reports, and it’s occurred to me that they could serve as the basis of an attractive book (or couple of books). I have put together a small, short, hastily-assembled prototype/mockup, downloadable below in PDF form, to give a rough idea of what I mean. Would something like this be of interest to y’all? It would be interesting not only from a historical standpoint, but also or model makers.

If interested, let me know… if I get enough “yes, I’d buy if the price wasn’t insane” comments, then I will go ahead. It’ll be something of a back-burner project, unless the response is overwhelming.

NOTE: the PDF was saved with maximum compression to save filesize, and the illustration s received minimal massaging to improve image quality. This is simply a test to gauge potential customer interest.

  1. I’d buy a copy for sure. All 2(3,4,5) volumes. Period.

  2. Yeah, assuming the price is not too out landish I will by at least the first volume.

  3. Looks good. I’d probably buy a copy of what ever number of volumes you create. This would make for some great CAD model information.

  4. Yes, but I’d want high-resolution prints and three-views.

For the majority of your stuff the prices are more than reasonable.

  5. I’ll buy them. Also the next APR.

  6. Count me in, I’d buy them.

  7. I’d be very interested in the whole set.

  8. FYI: Rather than being productive, I’ve spent pretty much the whole day digging up files and shuffling them around. The “Shuttle wind tunnel” directory now has 271 reports at 4.8 gig. A lot of them are redundant. A lot of them are graphically uninteresting. A lot of them have utterly crappy imagery. Still., that leaves a whole lot of raw material. And this isn’t *all* of them.

  9. Really? Seven?

    Sigh.

Clearly I have my finger on the pulse of the public. Watch out, sparkly teen vampires and teen wizards… you’re soon to by knocked off the top of the publishing lists!

  10. Count me in please….

  11. Sorry, getting to the party a bit late here, but I’m in for a copy! Development of the shuttle is one of my main curiosities!

  12. Make it 8. I’ll by two of each if that helps. 🙂

  13. I’d be interested, the further away from the final STS design the better!

  14. I’d be interested.

  15. […] spendign yet more time going through my files arranging things in preparation for maybe doing the Shuttle Wind Tunnel Models collection, I find I have north of 500 reports, at nearly 8 gig. Of those, about 250 reports/2.8 […]
