Leave it to the Japanese to decide that what the world truly needs is a set of wearable cat-ears that are controlled by the brain:

Well, at least it’s not a brain-controlled set of tentacles. But I have no doubt that those are in the works.
Of course, a brain controlled feline-like tail is almost certainly in the pipeline as well. I’m sure the furries will go *bonkers* when these become available.
Here’s a whole bunch of people trying the ears out:

Now, in all seriousness, this is kinda neat. Not the “movable cat ears” specifically, but a commerical product that makes some “practical” (practical???) use of brain-reading technology. Commercializing the tech makes it cheaper, wider spread, and available for people to experiment with. Experiments such as, perhaps, controlling wheelchairs and robotic limbs. Letting people dress up like furries does not impress me, in and of itself; but using that silly bit of tech to make the lives of the seriously crippled easier *does* impress me.
‘Three cheers for science and capitalism!
And because, why not, here’s a video of a cat repeatedly attacking. Note how the cats pupils go giant-sized when it becomes interested in the target:

And of course, the “Stalking Cat,” proof that cats are ninjas:
