A Boeing concept for a largish launch vehicle using a solid-propellant first stage and an S-IVb-like second stage. Comparisons with the Ares I launcher are inevitable, even though this concept dates back to 1961.

I miss the days when such things were thought possible. Some of the augmented Saturns would have been a sight to behold…..
That actually looks a lot more viable than a Ares 1.
