The three main places I’ve lived since college – Colorado, California, Utah – all suck when it comes to “setting the Halloween mood.” I grew up in the midwest, which does Halloween right… the air gets cold, the broad-leafed trees start changing colors and shedding leaves, the wind, the clouds…. awesome. But the other places I’ve lived have all been arid or outright deserts, and that means sucko Halloweens comparatively.
