After the recent flap about some podunk preacher planning on burning a Koran (then pussing out at the last minute), now comes news that – SURPRISE! – Afghan religious nuts (AKA “moderate Muslims,” at least in that part of the world) went into riot-mode over rumors that Australian troops were busy burning Korans. As it turns out, the Aussies were simply burning garbage… feel free to make your own wry comment at this point.
A thought occurs: What happens if you have an electronic copy of the Koran – let’s say a PDF or Word file of it – and you delete that copy? Will that incur the wrath of the whackjobs? Do you stand a chance of starting a riot if you “burn” a Koran onto a CD-ROM?

It still seems to me that my initial response to that culture remains correct: they are children, functioning on the level of the average 6-year-old Western kid, emotionally. Kinda like some American politicians and their desperate followers.
I have deleted numerous copies of the Qur’an, and I chortled gleefully each time. Almost as much fun as smackin’ hippies in the head with a Bible. Or a Wall Street Journal. Good times!
