While getting the mail, I saw one of the large local hawks circling low overhead, so I grabbed the camera to take some photos. When I got back outside it had climbed substantially, but it was joined by two others. For all I know, this was some sort of affection-filled mating dance, but it sure looked like these two were trying to kill each other…

  1. Scott, that is some EXCELLENT photography. And yes, it is that time of year when a young hawks eye turns to finding that special lady, and she gets to watch them sort it out.

  2. I once saw a trained Saker Falcon eat a meal of chicken, from about five feet away. It is quite a feeling to understand intimately how well-refined birds of prey are at what they do.
