If you are my age or older, you remember “Buck Rogers.” More particularly, you remember Erin Gray. And most specifically, you remember her spandex “uniform.” Otherwise, “BR” was a bad, bad, BAD show.

When Buck Rogers came out, I was at that transitional age when I was old enough to recognize that Erin Gray merited watching, but young enough to not quite understand exactly why. Well, it’s thirty years later (shut up, shut up), and the understanding is complete.

Erin Gray seemed to have pretty much evaporated after BR and a sitcom (“Silver Spoons” or some such). However, turns out she’s not gone the usual self-destructive former-Hollywood-hottie route, but has picked up decent work behind the scenes. Watch an interview with her about her role at DragonCon HERE. And at age sixty, it seems the years have been kind to her.

  1. *sigh*

    I’m available, Erin!

  2. Damn, she’s aged gracefully over the last 30+ years!

And yes, a statue should be raised to those spandex uniforms.

    🙂

  3. At that times I was a teen ager, more or less like you Scott, even if the BR TV Show was aired later in Italy than in USA (as usual) more or less in 1982 (even if I read the novelization by Addison A. Steele in 1979).

I always liked blonde girls (probably because my emh… mediterranean look) and Erin really fit my young teeneger dreams. It is not coincidental that actually I really married a tall, blonde, girl….

Really glad to see that Time was kind with Erin and not only by physical point of view.

  4. Erin Gray and I are very close to the same age so I knew exactly why she merited watching. I am glad to see that she proved to be more than a pretty face atop a body with curves in the right places. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

You’re right that the show was terrible science fiction.

  5. “Beedee Beedee, that’s right parabarbarian”

  6. Parabarbarian, I never gave her age much thought. She’s about a dozen days younger than I. I always liked younger women.
