From the Daily Mail out of the UK:

Lyne Featherstone, new Liberal Democrat “equalities minister” said that women “must not be made to feel inadequate by stick-thin models staring out of advertising billboards and magazines.”

Well, sure. That sounds good. Let’s face it, those overpaid, underfed bags of antlers are not only virtually impossible role models, they’re not (in my view) all that damned attractive, either. So, great! Don’t idolize the size zero models! Who, instead, should women see as their ideal, the figure they should aspire to emulate?

Yeah. You got it…

Christina Hendricks.

Good luck with that.

  1. I don’t know if she came by a figure like that honestly or not, but she certainly is photogenic.

That said I’d prefer the happy medium in that regard. (See the joke about the retired couple, the oatmeal and the coffee)

  2. Women appear to suffer from damaged self-esteem, probably a result of having to look like someone on TV. Once we all recognize this, perhaps women can choose to be happy with who and what they are. Probably not gonna happen in the greater population.
I totally messed up a bunch of returning-to-college women (all in their 30s and 40s) when I told them that the sexiest characteristic a woman can have is confidence. Their responses suggested strongly that they were more comfortable with something more quantifiable. Maybe that’s why I never got laid out of that class.
I think Hendricks is just too large up front. She does have a great smile and good posture, both of which suggest confidence. But maybe is forced to have good posture with all that counterweighting.

What is she gonna do when naturally thin women, and those with smaller breasts, start to feel inadequate? Just no longer allow images of women to be used in advertising?

  4. Some guy wrote about her: “The first time you lay eyes on her, the only thing you can think about is impregnating her in any way possible.”
    This is a foolish statement.
Making her pregnant is the last thing you want to accomplish.
Screwing her up one wall, across the ceiling, and down the far wall, _without_ making her pregnant, would be the ideal situation. :-D.

  5. I guess the equalities minister has no comment about women choosing to modify themselves to fit an image:

Mr. Holt, you are correct; the large size of her breasts must be a constant threat to her posture, and it would be best if someone were to walk around directly behind her and hold those overweight breasts high in their hands so that they did not pull her chest down to her possible detriment in regards to her posture.
Out of the goodness of my heart, I hereby volunteer to do that duty in a completely selfless manner.

  7. Pat, you’re a true gentleman.
