Heh, I should see if I can find the old 8mm film I have that I took at a tractor pull about 30 years ago. The tractor picked up the front end, veered right and the wheel landed on the snow fence I was standing behind. When I put the camera down, the tractor was right in my face and the crowd was all about 10 feet behind me.
Might be a little hyperbole in the article. The car veered right immediately at launch, so it wasn’t moving very fast. (The video is somewhere on the ESPN YouTube channel.) It only has about five gallons of methanol, so it wouldn’t explode. Still, it’s a swap-your-shorts moment, no question.
