Ever since I was a little kid, I have been finding hordes (swarms?) of ladybugs in my house/apartment in the dead of winter. I have no house plants, I am currently living in a downtown apartment, but as soon as the weather turns cold, there they are! Why, oh why, do they torment me so?
I’m just impressed that you found real ladybugs to photograph. Usually all you get are those orange beetle things that masquerade as ladybugs (like the one in your first pic) and then bite you when you’re not expecting it.
Ladybugs are actually quite useful. They eat plant lice.
I had a couple of them in my place in October, when it started to turn cold. But I evicted them. I have this policy that nothing with more than 4 legs is allowed to stay in here.
Still, I take the ladybugs over the giant locusts I get in late summer. Those things are HUGE and always swarm from the field right in front of my place.
Ack! The ladybug, my eternal scourge!

Siergen, could be worse. Could be hornets 😛
