Union troubled by Eagle Scout project in Allentown

In pursuit of an Eagle Scout badge, Kevin Anderson, 17, has toiled for more than 200 hours hours over several weeks to clear a walking path in an east Allentown park.

Nick Balzano, president of the local Service Employees International Union, told Allentown City Council Tuesday that the union is considering filing a grievance against the city for allowing Anderson to clear a 1,000-foot walking and biking path at Kimmets Lock Park.

“We’ll be looking into the Cub Scout or Boy Scout who did the trails,” Balzano told the council.

Balzano said Saturday he isn’t targeting Boy Scouts. But given the city’s decision in July to lay off 39 SEIU members, Balzano said “there’s to be no volunteers.” No one except union members may pick up a hoe or shovel, plant a flower or clear a walking path.

I suspect Eagle Scout Anderson may soon be getting a merit badge in Broken Kneecaps.

  1. This is the kind of thing that would make me want to take up landscaping as a hobby and tell the union parasites to go f–k themselves. No doubt it would take twenty of them a month to equal what the scout did by himself.

  2. No, Balzano will be getting that merit badge, Scout Anderson has the full legal authority to stomp Balzano’s anti-American a$$ into the ground. That is the result of making terroristic threats against American citizens, which unionscum Balzano clearly is not.

  3. Hey I’ll bet His Highness could find a way to blow $20 million to have those union scumbags keep the trail clear.

  4. Yeah, I heard about this last night. Though because I heard about it through Fox news, there’ll probably be about 20 people ready and willing to tell me that this can’t possibly be true and to please stop listening to that evil, lying Glenn Beck.

  5. Actually I first saw this in an article in the Philly Inquirer. I know! Totally unreliable rag, but you got to find out what is happening in the other half of PA somehow.

  6. As an Eagle Scout, I sympathize with Kevin Anderson. I had to jump through a lot of hoops to get my Eagle Project approved. It took half a year for my proposal to finally clear with the city and only then could I begin work. I really hope Kevin catches a break.

  7. […] rare ray of sunshine! A followup to this story of Union officials goign after an Eagle Scout who did too much […]

  8. Scot? That thumping sound was another union member going under the Socialist Bus. Does not mean they support America or Americans, just that they know when people are going to kick their teeth in over their anti-American stupidity.
