Even though I’m currently not in the optimal position for blogging, this obviously cannot go without comment:
President Barack Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize
OSLO – President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples,” the Norwegian Nobel Committee said, citing his outreach to the Muslim world and attempts to curb nuclear proliferation.
When i first read the headline through my bleary eyes, I thought it was a lame joke. No, it turns out it’s an elaborate joke by that same group of insane chuckleheads who thought that terrorist Yassir Arafat and slide-show scam artist Al Gore also deserved a Nobel Peace Prize.
I suspect we can solve the worlds energy crisis by ramming a big magnet up Alfred Nobel’s ass and wrapping him in coppr coils. At the rate in which he must be spinning in his grave, he should be able to generate several hundred terawatts at least.
Note that Prize nominations were closed on February fisrt. Obama took office on January 20. This means the Norwegian Nobel committee nominated him after he’d put in a whole dozen days in office. Does this make *any* sense?

Ha…ha…haaa.
Once again I am baffled at the way fate construes for events to occur that lead me to agree wholeheartedly with you Scott.
A wait of 2 to 3 years would have been sensible.
Yep, the Progressive Movement toddles on. What an abysmal joke.
Hmm… I was unaware of the timing aspect. Not that it wouldn’t be completely ludicrous even if he’d been nominated for it yesterday. But you’re right, the recent spate of Nobel peace prize winners is a complete insult to the concept of the Nobel prize.
The timing was a bit early.
Poor baby, they had to give him a consolation prize for losing the ’16 Olympics to Rio
Gotta love it. Now this douche
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/10/09/dnc-says-republican-critics-aligning-with-terrorists/
is saying if you don’t think Obama deserved the Nobel you’re a terrorist. Reading through the comments it looks like their are a lot of retarded liberals who agree.
My conclusion is that it’s a prize for being the guy most likely to bring America down the level of Norwegian leftists. That part of the world appears to feel that America deserves to be taken down a peg or two, and Obama is obviously the guy they expect to do it.
Obama probably feels pretty good about it. He’s living in a fantasy common to all 60s radicals. He’s getting awards for thinking the right way, which was a characteristic of that mindset in the 60s. He has been trained well.
The non-science awards are worthless beyond the monetary part. (Has anyone read any of the Literature laureates? Anyone?) What is really irksome is how this expediency contrasts with the decades that some scientists have to wait to be recognized, and in some cases don’t live long enough. Chandrasekhar received his in 83 for the work he did in the 30s. Ginzburg was 87, when he got his 03 for the work he did in the 50s. The best thing that Obama could do is decline. It would temper the sychophants and restore some of the award’s value (if it had any to begin with).
WTF ?!
Obama gets Nobel’s Peace prize !
FOR WAT ?
dit he make peace with or in ?
Iraq
Iran
Afganistan
North Corea
Israel & Palastina
NOOOOOOO !
so Nobel Committe in Sweden, a Peace prize is for some who makes Peace
and not for one who talks some blue eye vision of better world !
but that not first time Nobel Committe screws things up:
lets take the Diplomat for peace prize of 1973 for ending Vietnam war
back in 1968 Johnson had real chance to end the Vietnam War
but the Diplomat cheated and run over to election candidate Robert NIxon
and sabotage the 1968 peace talks
as Nixon became President the Diplomat became his National Security Advisor
and his advise :
Vietnamization of the war, secret bombing campaign in Cambodia and Laos.
in the end 3 million Vietnamses were Killt during bombing
the chaos true bombing in Cambodia, the Khmer Rouge take power
and killing over 2 million Cambodian
also the 22000 US Military who died after 1968 in Vietnam
Nice Job, Henry Kissinger
> A wait of 2 to 3 years would have been sensible.
At which point a nomination for a “peace prize” would be so obviously laughable that event he Nobel committe would pass it by.
> they had to give him a consolation prize for losing the ‘16 Olympics to Rio
Given the early date of his nomination, I suspect some of the thinking was that this would be jsut one of a whole ream of successes and recognition that he would ahve racked up by this point. As it is, the prize simply points out in stark relief the utter failure his reign has so far been. Ooops.
