The whackadoodle scolds at PETA want to change language to suit their political ends:

 

They want to reduce “speciesism” by taking a common idiom that mentions an animal or animal-derived food product and replacing it with a non-animal or non-animal food product. Well… two sides can play that game.

“A piece of cake” = “A piece of bacon”

“Easy as pie” = “Easy as cheese”

“Cut the mustard” = “cut the steak”

“Icing on the cake” = “cheese on the burger”

I admit, these don’t exactly roll off the tongue. What’s better?
