The city is sinking by about 10 inches a year not because of ocean level rise, but because wells dug around the city are drawing out so much subsurface water that the city is settling.

Jakarta is hardly alone in this. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if portions of the midwest collapse due to the Ogallala aquifer being drained dry.
