This particular perch has a clear view of my back deck, and I’ve noticed him/her tracking kittens. Hopefully they’re too big, but I dunno…
This particualr hawk also sometimes hangs out on the back of the shed. But there are already birdsnests up there, and the current tennants put up a protest.

Better safe than sorry. Predatory birds are definitely nothing to take lightly. Hawks will go after rattlesnakes among other things so kittens would be easy pickin’s.
Hawks are definitely a threat to cats, although they prefer other game.
And love those pics!! Our camera is not up to that kind of work. We have redtails and Coopers around here, and the eagles. 2 nesting pairs of Balds and 3 of Goldens within 5 miles of our house. We are a 1/2 mile from the Allegheny River, not far from where the Clarion River joins it. Lots of good eagle territory here.
Then your camera must truly suck. Mine’s a 1.5-year-old Canon point-and click on it’s sensor’s last legs. It’s currently in the shop, hopefully getting repaired.
I am going to erect a kind of white-trash-engineered screen around my deck to give the cats both some shade from the sun and cover from the hawk.
