For Odin’s sake, you numbnuts… is this what you members of the Republican party really need to be spending your fricken’ time on?H. Con. Res. 121: Encouraging the President to designate 2010 as “The National Year of the Bible”

Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That the President is encouraged–

(1) to designate an appropriate year as ‘The National Year of the Bible’; and

(2) to issue a proclamation calling upon citizens of all faiths to rediscover and apply the priceless, timeless message of the Holy Scripture which has profoundly influenced and shaped the United States and its great democratic form of Government, as well as its rich spiritual heritage, and which has unified, healed, and strengthened its people for over 200 years.

Here we are, economy in the toilet, basic Constitutional liberties standing on the knifedge, an incompetant boob for a commander in chief, well on the way to national socializing all industries of any value… and Republicans are pulling this nonsense out of their asses?

Really?

These jackholes have nothing better to do with their time?

  1. Hold sh*t – I though Northern Irish politicians were the most backward, facile fools on the Earth. Looks like they stepped up a grade…

  2. Just when I thought I couldn’t get more depressed with today’s politics.

  3. I’m pretty sure that the Supreme Court would have some Constitutional problems with the legality of such a proclamation.
But the grand strategy here is to make Democrats vote _against_ the bill, so they will look like Godless Commies.
Expect more goofiness like this as the elephant continues to stumble blindly toward the edge of the cliff. with four mahouts astride its back…each prodding it to go in a different direction.

Really? What makes you think that… since they’ve done it *before*?

  5. Yeah, your right… the Congress can proclaim November “National Turkey Month”, and no one bats an eyebrow.
Difference in this case is that this is supposed to go on for a whole year, and favors a Judeo-Christian interpretation of religion over others.
Although the worth of the Bible as a great insight into philosophy and theology may be self-evident to those who proposed the bill, its message is certainly not universally accepted by everyone living in this nation, and frankly the God of the Old Testament scares the living shit out of me, as he seems mentally unstable, extremely vengeful, and downright bloodthirsty.
In fact, the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament seem like two very different gods… right up till you run into the Book Of Revelation, when you can tell the ol’ boy is back in charge again.
It really surprises my that the present-day “Christian” evangelists seem a lot more attuned to the Old Testament God than the New Testament one.
Although, lets face it…Jesus was a God-damned Commie when you get right down to it.
Rich people not getting into Heaven?!
What sort of Red Crap is that? 😉

  6. Wow we’ve hit an embarrassing new low. I think the Republican party needs some kind of major reform.
There’s plenty of dumb-ass democrats too though so lets not be acting like us republicans are the only stupid ones 😀

  7. Scott-all;

“More” bad news? The RNC is meeting this week to ram through a decleration that re-names the Democratic Party as the “Democratic-Socalist” party. Net result? NADA but pissing off the REAL “Democratic-Socalist” party and forcing all Republican to have to refer in any and all dealings, speech, and writing to their oppents AS the “Democratic-Socalist” party…..

    Uhm, bit childish anyone?
