  2. You know, I keep looking at these, and one thought keeps popping up. They would make excellent locations for maximum security prisons. Or sustainable industrial sites.

  3. I love how you can visually tell there is a different climate from the lip of the hole to the bottom… It must be something else to feel a 20 or 30 degree change in temperature as you haul your load out…

    Similarly, I wonder where all the fill dirt went? Even if it is spread around and shipped out, there’s still gotta be some giant man-made hill somewhere…

    It went not too fa away. There are sizable mountains of tailings. I suppose I’ll post the photos of that; not quite as impressive as the hole since they are spread out, but still… BIG.
