I ain’t got no dog in this fight. But man, some people sure do get testy over what seems to outsiders to be rather small and silly matters of dogma. Take, for example, this thread at Free Republic. FR used to be a good Conservative discussion & news forum, but has long since been little more than a parody site, becoming what lefties imagine far-right-wing religious whackos to be.

The subject of the FR post, and the point of contention, is the concept of “transubstantiation,” the notion that bread and wine actually transform into human flesh and blood (either physically or in some sort of spiritual sense). It quickly becomes a “if you don’t agree with my interpretation, it’s because your church is based not on the Bible, but Satan and you’re going to Hell” thread. It’s rather appalling to read through, like a religious trainwreck.
