A few more views of the “new” Enterprise from the forthcoming Trek movie are visible in the latest trailer. I am still underwhelmed with the re-design (although the CGI looks top-notch). One can always hope that at the end of the movie the Enterprise gets well and truly trashed, barely limping back home with engine nacelles falling off… and Scotty shows Kirk a hastily scribbled sketch of some re-designs he’s come up with to fix and improve the design.

Ok, gotta ask:
Why are they building on the SURFACE of the planet? Or is that space station in the second shot a LOT bigger than it seems?

Drama, I guess. Doesn’t make sense logically, and it doesn’t fit in with established Trek “lore.”
No, you’ve got it wrong folks.
There’s a giant slipway in front of the Enterprise – a giant *straight* slipway. It’s very long, the Earth curves away, a little thrust and voila! you’re in space.

That’s not a “slip-way” it’s the prongs of a giant sling-shot…..
We could have both, redundant systems are good š
Meh!
