China’s getting kinda threatening  about conquering the entirety of the South China Sea, and is starting to warn the US to abandon it’s allies.

Wen warns US on South China Sea dispute

Hasn’t this region of the world seen this sort of imperialism before? Worked out well the last time.

  1. Let’s see if the PRC calls it “The Greater East-Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere.” Tradition is important!

    • The “claimed territorial waters” don;t seem to intrude on Japan. But if the Japanese let the Chinese get away with *this,* then the Japanese are quickly going to find themselves boxed in. And I’m pretty sure that the Chinese could make relatively quick work of Japan if it came right down to it.

      • Thing is, Japan could develop nuclear capability in about half an hour if they decided to. And China REALLY doesn’t want a nuclear-armed Japan. That’s why they’ve restricted themselves to picking on the Philippines and Vietnam.

  2. If there wasn’t oil around the Spratlys, this would be a non-issue.

And yes, it is the Greater PRC Solo-Prosperity Sphere.

  3. I bet the Philippines is regretting that the US Navy has left Subic Bay.

  4. So if we go to war with China, does that cancel our debts to them?

According to this, perhaps that’s Obama’s plan: http://tinyurl.com/736faup

Permanent war, it’s the new “freedom”.

  5. A lot of provocative language has been coming out of Bejing for the past several years. Is the United States going to cave in yet again when the PLA crosses the Formosa Strait and conquers the “renegade province” of Taiwan to keep Bejing happy?

Really makes you wonder if Japan will amend or abrogate its post-war constitution to allow it to build additional weapon systems in light of China’s provocative language.
