PD-2969, “General Arrangement – 3 View Supersonic Interceptor – Twin Engine,” a large format (6897X3217 pixel) grayscale 3-view drawing providing dimensions, areas, weights and other basic data for this eight-engined Mach 2+ 1956 interceptor design… described as twin-engined, but each “engine” was composed of a cluster of four J85 turbojets.
Includes smaller versions (8,000 px, 4000 px, 1200 px) for easier viewing/printing.

    Although this is sleeker, you can see a lot of the F-16’s layout and aerodynamics in this design. It must have been annoying for Northrop when something that looked a lot like one of their designs showed up as a competitor for their YF-17.
