A couple of interesting videos showing the design and construction of the X-20 Dyna Soar. Includes mockup review, wind tunnel testing and static testing of the Thiokol XM-92 acceleration rocket motor.

    It’s a shame that Dyna-Soar never flew. At least a lot of the basic research that went into it could be used on other programs.

    Was there any exotic alloy or material that they _weren’t_ using on Dyna-Soar?
    “A new nose cap, made of powdered unicorn horn set in a Orichalcum honeycomb matrix, is being tested.” 😀
