Got this from Google:

Thank you for your appeal. We appreciate the additional information you’ve provided, as well as your continued interest in the AdSense program. However, after thoroughly re-reviewing your account data and taking your feedback into consideration, our specialists have confirmed that we’re unable to reinstate your AdSense account.

Of course, they provided *zero* information about what the actual problem was. No humans seemed to be involved at any point in the process, nor was a means of contacting an actual human who knew what the hell was going on found.

However, there’s this:

https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1113286

Which discusses “sabotage.” Apparently if you don’t like someone, you can attack their revenue stream and get their Google AdSense account killed.

Hmmm. Makes one wonder.

  1. Sabotage would fit in nicely with the problems the blog was running into every few weeks when the commenting would get disabled.

    • My thoughts exactly. There was evidence of external tampering with that; sabotaging the Google Ads would be a hell of a lot easier.

What’s especially annoying is that the Google “appeal process” tells you to explain what the problem is… without any possible way for you to actually know what the problem is. It’s a system wonderfully designed to be used maliciously.

      • Tampering with board settings suggests either someone has your admin login, or someone at the hosting provider. In case of the former, I’d suggest changing the password after each suspect incident.

        • Yeah, change the password often, and make it something really complex.
A really good look at the computer for signs of hacking would be helpful also.
It could be the Red Chinese.

  2. Anyone who’d go to all that trouble to sabotage you, Scott, is probably wearing a tinfoil hat while they’re doing it. Seriously: I suspect that they’re on some sort of medication for psychological problems. I have no idea how to exploit either thought in your online defense.
