Pilot’s view is going to be a little strange, that’s for sure. He’s also going to pull outward g’s every time he rolls the thing. This looks like the perfect design to incorporate an escape pod on.
Do you have images of it that are _not_ in blueprint format?
As to the pilot position, having him prone in flight does solve the downward visibility in the landing phase.
One thing which they might’ve done with this was make that pilot’s compartment a rotating one. This, such that it would automatically roll to keep the G-loads pressing him onto his back.
