It’s just barely possible that I may have, in passing, dropped subtle hints that I ain’t no spring chicken anymore *AND* that I’m a sci-fi fan from way back. Additionally, I might have let slip a hint or two that I’m not fond of recent efforts by the owners of various franchises and intellectual properties to twist culturally important works to fit new political views and cater to people who actively dislike not only the original properties… but they also basically despise *me.* Over the last decade and a half or so as Hollywood has repeatedly mangled the legacy of Star Trek, Star Wars, Ghostbusters and a bunch of others, the paid shills have cranked out the predictable – and predictably lazy and wrong – message that anyone who doesn’t like turning Han Solo into a joke or Luke Skywalker into a cowardly traitor or crapping on established canon is a “toxic fan.” But it’s hardly news that the fragile egos of the shallow “fans” of the new, revised, ruined versions are the real source of toxicity, as JJ Abrams is finding out after disappointing a bunch of “Reylo” snowflakes with the latest DisneyWars fan-film.

Leave it to SJWs to invade what you love, turn it into what *they* want… then set it on fire all while blaming *you.*

Poe’s Law was originally specifically about Creationists:

Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is utterly impossible to parody a Creationist in such a way that someone won’t mistake for the genuine article.

In the 15 years since then, though, it has expanded to cover just about every form of whackery, from religious to political. And it is accurate… parody will often be indistinguishable from the actual crazy. And thus you get this:

Antisemitism Only Counts From Whites

I define antisemitism ontologically as a product of white supremacy, making antisemitism by others – Black Hebrew Israelites, Muslims, whoever – impossible.

…Once we understand that the term “antisemitism” applies only to white-on-Jew violence, we realize other terminology must come into play. My suggestions include “economic protest” and “anti-gentrification crusade,” but others are welcome to weigh in with theirs.

The website this was published on, “Preoccupied Territory,” is explicitly a satirical website. But taken out of that context, it reads *exactly* like the sort of woke rubbish you’ll get from “Progressive intellectuals.” For example, it was reproduced in its entirety at jewishpress.com; and even with a single reference up top to the fact that it’s from a satire site, read the comments. A few folks missed that bit and believe that this is the current state of Progressive thought. And the thing is, they’re not far wrong.

It could prove entertaining if Reddit or 4chan or some such snagged this article and posted it without the reference to satire in order to hook as many Progressives as possible. Because I suspect they’d get a *lot* of them. The same ones who believe that “cultural appropriation” and “racism” only go one way, that words can and should be re-defined to support their left-fascist political agenda.

I hadn’t seen “PreOccupied Territory” prior to this. I think I’ll add it to my daily reading list of religious websites alongside the Babylon Bee. What the frak kinda world are we living in that the best and actually funniest political comedy comes from the religious fundies and that the ones who want to ban video games and burn books are on the left?

Snerk:

Hundreds of people queue to be ‘cleansed’ by guinea pigs in bizarre ritual

Short form: a shaman rubbed a guinea pig on a large number of people to cure them of their ailments, and likely their overly-fat wallets. No information was given about how the guinea pig felt about it; looked disturbed to me, but maybe it was just happy to be the center of attention. Also no word about whether the critter had been cleaned of plague-fleas prior to this. And the author did not render an opinion on whether it would be good or bad if a bunch of people who buy into rampagingly stupid nonsensical superstitious quackery caught some horrible life-ending, gene pool winnowing disease.

Multiple news outlets run false story about Texas church shooting

This misleading headline in Global News “Gunman in Texas church shooting owned gun range, gave lessons: state prosecutor” has since been changed to “Firearms instructor took out gunman at Texas church service” and Global has replaced the Reuters story with an Associated Press story.

It’s interesting how many times news stories get the facts wrong in particular directions. This time, the false narrative would have been handy for those opposed to firearms ownership, when the real story was that this guy not only was likely legally barred from owning a firearm, he never should have been out in public anyway. Now, I seriously doubt that this was done with intent… but instead what happened is that the reporter who wrote the false story, the editors who titled it, the publisher who ran it… they got their facts wrong initially and couldn’t be bothered to actually check, no doubt in small part because they *liked* the story.

This is hardly the first time this has happened.

Passenger amenities are a bit lacking.

The “Ripsaw” series of vehicles are certainly interesting, having gotten themselves into a number of movies (GI Joe, one of those “Fast & Furious” flicks, probably others). The “M5 Electric Drive Super Tank” appears to be surprisingly quiet, though I’d certainly debate the label “Super Tank.” it is also unmanned, which you can certainly believe once you see it in side view… its hull does not appear to be deep enough for someone to actually sit in. It’s also unclear just how functional the turret and armament are. One scene shows the turret spinning quickly, but the gun barrel seems fixed.

I could see a role for a whole swarm of these things romping up and down the southern border, the sizable cannon replaced with a .50 or two. An actual border wall is not a terribly effective deterrent to the ongoing invasion; walls are readily surmounted, and they are bad for the native wildlife. But a robotank that is relatively quiet? Have them zip along, guided by an armada of long-duration overhead drones, turning coyote trucks into Swiss cheese and running down on-foot bands of invaders.

Hey, if the Governor of Virginia can call out the National Guard onto his own citizens, and if Rep. Swalwell can call for the use of nuclear weapons on US territory to eliminate those who disagree with his policies, then siccing first-generation Terminators onto foreign invaders seems an uncontroversial idea.
