The media is having a hell of a time. A little while ago they caught themselves a gold mine when a white guy shot up some Asian massage parlors… *clearly,* white supremacy, white privilege, white racism, all that. Then it seemed to come out that he was a sex addict, not a racist. OK, then a white supremacist shot up a grocery store on Boulder, Colorado… then it turns out he’s a Syrian Islamist import. Drat.

OK, then another white supremacist with an Assault Rifle 15 With A Shoulder Thing That Goes Up did a mass shooting in Orange County… whoops, his name is Aminadab Gaxiola Gonzalez and he used a pistol. Then Asians are getting beat up all across the country… by people who tend to be not at all MAGA types. Then today… oh, boy! A Q-Anon Trumpist White Supremacist attacked the Capitol in D.C. with a car and a knife. Clearly this was the Second Coming of the January 6 Armed Insurrection!

Whoops:

Noah Green, a former college football player and Nation of Islam adherent, was named as the knife-wielding, now-deceased suspect who rammed a car into a U.S. Capitol barricade, exiting with a knife and killing one Capitol police officer while injuring another.

The narrative-mongers are having a hell of a time. Now is the time to strike with the gun grabs and rights-deletions; every notable crime must be promoted 24-7 in order to gin up fear of evil black guns and evil white people. But the crimes keep not fitting the storyline. That has *got* to be annoying as hell.

Heh.

So a left wing propaganda outlet called “Earther” is outraged that Mike Rowe of “Dirty Jobs” fame has a new show:

Mike Rowe’s New Discovery+ Show Is Big Oil-Funded Propaganda

The show in question is called “Six Degrees,” and from “Earthers” description it sounds like a new version of the old BBC/James Burke series “Connections.” I watched the hell out of Connections back in the day (along with Connections 2, Connections 3 and The Day The Universe Changed), because not only was Burke a hell of a presenter/science popularizer, the idea of the show was great: how did some seemingly random event, discovery or invention hundreds or thousands of years ago lead to some important technology or process in use today. Show was friggen awesome, and I remain ticked off that it’s not available in any reasonable form today, apart from some of the episodes scattered across YouTube.

Anyway, the leftist fanatics at “Earther” are outraged that “Six Degrees” is funded by the petrochemical industry and that Rowe points out in apparently every episode that hydrocarbons are vital to todays world. Well… duh. Power comes largely from fossil fuels. Propulsion comes almost entirely from fossil fuels. Our *stuff* is often made directly from petrochemicals, as are our medicines and lubricants and insulators. The wind turbines that these yahoos want to supplant natural gas and coal fired plants? Made from carbon composites and fiberglass made from petrochemicals. If you want to tell the story of how the modern world got built and maintained, you have to give it up to the petrochemical industry… or be a liar.

The article shills for solar and wind… and make ZERO mention of nuclear. The article excoriates the American petrochemical industry for “frying the planet,” but makes ZERO mention of the fact that the US has flattened CO2 output, while India is catching up and China has more than doubled US output. In 2017, the US was responsible for a mere 13.77% of the total planetary output of CO2 (doubtless substantially lower still today). But by all means, let’s focus on Mike Rowe’s little TV show rather than the ENTIRE PLANET burning everything under the sun.

ADDENDUM: Turns out that Connectiosn 1,2 and 3 are available in their entirety at the Internet Archive:

This video is done as a joke… but I would not be surprised if there’s not a fair amount of truth behind it. Perhaps not window companies per se, but there are a lot of people making a lot of money – or accruing a lot of political power – by supporting the violence they then claim to want to defend people from. “Defund the cops” leads to more crime, which leads to politicians calling for gun bans, which leads to an increase in crime. *Someone* is making bank here.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. Dad must be *so* proud.

You know… you be you, so long as you’re not hurting anyone else. But… if you’re not helping anyone, including yourself, nobody else has any obligation to do or say anything in support of your choices. If you go out of your way to not only look far outside the mainstream, but actually devote a sizable fraction of your entire existence to making a spectacle of yourself… meh.

Once again, I suspect an interesting sci-fi story could be written base don this idea that this sort of thing is the visible manifestation of an alien “worldwrecker” attack on humanity, some sort of mind controlling/distorting field that is trying to make humanity self destructive and/or non-reproductive.

Our futures are secure.

A new bill would defund new ICBMs to pay for coronavirus vaccine research

This new Congress wants to not only disarm the populace but the military as well… at least as far as strategic deterrence. I’m sure the Chinese are quaking in their boots.

If there is anyone in the FBI who’s actually interested in defending the US, I’d recommend they use the list of sponsors and supporters of this bill as the basis for an investigation into foreign influence in the US government:

The Investing in Cures Before Missiles Act, offered by Sen. Edward Markey, D-Mass., and Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif….

The proposed legislation has amassed some early support in the House and Senate. Co-sponsors include Sens. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md.; Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.; and Jeff Merkley, D-Ore.; as well as Reps. Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore.; Steve Cohen, D-Tenn.; Jesus Garcia, D-Ill.; Raul M. Grijalva, D-Ariz.; Jared Huffman, D-Calif.; Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas; Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash.; Barbara Lee, D-Calif.; James McGovern, D-Mass.; Eleanor Holmes Norton, D-D.C.; Ilhan Omar, D-Minn.; Mark Pocan, D-Wis.; and Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass.

Note that there are some of the *dumbest* members of Congress listed there.

City of Oakland Mayor is branded racist for giving families of color $500 a month if they earn under $59,000 with no rules on how they spend it – but offering poor white families nothing

Doling out cash to people based on their race seems like it would slam up against “equal protection” and “nondiscrimination” laws.

Another article:

Oakland launches guaranteed pay plan for low-income people

The mayor of Oakland, California, on Tuesday announced a privately funded program that will give low-income families of color $500 per month with no rules on how they can spend it.

“Of Color” means “everyone but white people.” Or at least it used to: recently Asians have been declared  by the Woke to be white due to their “privilege” (which seems to come from rather enthusiastically embracing this thing called a “work ethic”). It should be interesting to see how Oakland goes about deciding who is sufficiently non-white, how fast the lawsuits come out, how big the army of attack lawyers will be, and how soaked the taxpayers of Oakland will end up. If I was paying property taxes in Oakland, I’d consider *not* being taxable in Oakland just as fast as possible.

“We’re not coming to take your guns”/”We’re coming to take your guns”

The most recent news article shown in that video:

Biden Administration Urges Supreme Court To Let Cops Enter Homes And Seize Guns Without A Warrant

The case in question dates from an incident back in 2015. But the Biden/Harris CCP Caretaker Administration wanting the Supreme Court to uphold the idea of warrantless firearm confiscations (along with warrantless searches of homes) just because the government and its agents want to disarm a law-abiding citizen. This would be a blatant violation not only of the Second Amendment but the Fourth as well.

Why even continue with the pretense of a Constitution at that point?

City student passes 3 classes in four years, ranks near top half of class with 0.13 GPA

The student got a B in PE, and D’s in English I and Health Ed I. Failed *everything* else. The mother was aware of this. And now that the student is approaching the date when he should have graduated high school, he’s been informed that he will have to repeat *all* of High School, straight back to 9th grade. *Hundreds* of students this school have failed worse than this one. After essentially failing English 1 (he got a D-), he was promoted to English 2. Which he failed. And was then promoted to English 3. Which he failed. He was absent or late 272 times.

The video at the link is entertainingly depressing in a “this is the future” sort of way. Shockingly, the mother claims that her lil’ scholar didn’t “deserve” to be failed. She blames the school for this. The says that her son feels like a failure… and that he *shouldn’t* feel like that. Even though… ummm… he’s a failure. How else to describe someone who got a 0.13 and basically ditched school? “Who do he turn to?” she asks, making it clear right off how someone can fail English. “Don’t he get a chance?” she ax, missing the point that he had four years worth of chances.

The former principal of the school was placed on administrative leave for 17 months while an investigation was carried out. During that time, she made $190,000.

The “city” in question is Baltimore.

The student failed.

The parent(s) failed.

The school failed.

The city government failed.

The voters who kept voting for the machine running Baltimore failed.

The political party running Baltimore is the same one that wants to have complete control over who gets to exercise Constitutional rights.

I’ve mentioned before that I have a fix for this sort of thing. To all appearances, this was a student who wads not only failed by the system and his family, he seemed to have no interest in doing any of the schoolwork himself. OK, fine. For such students, let them out at the end of, say, the 10th grade. tehn let them enter the work force. A few options:

1: Get a real job. Flip burgers, dig ditches, whatever.

2: Go in the the new Works Projects Administration. He and a few hundred thousand or million of his like-mined non-academics can receive pay and training and room and board from the government, and get a chance to see the country. They’d get loaded onto buses or trains and shipped to rural areas to work the farms, doing the jobs that illegal aliens did before the laws were finally enforced and they were all deported.

3: Do nothing. Fine, it’s a free country, can’t, shouldn’t and won’t force anyone to do anything. But also, no welfare of any kind. Ever.

4: After six months of uninterrupted employment or WPA service, they can elect to go back to school… where they will maintain at least a 2.0 GPA and a spotless behavioral record. Or back to the WPA.
