Granted that day was several days ago, but it’s still good:

In short: Brittney Griner is some form of sportsball player who protested against the United States when she thought it was the politically popular thing to do. Now she has been arrested in Russian for having illegal drug substances, something she has apparently admitted to, and wants the US to ride to her rescue. Right now, though, Russia is (or at least should be) on America’s ᛋᚻᛁᛏ list. So leaving her there not only rids the US of someone who doesn’t like the US anyway, it leaves her care and feeding to the Russians who will have to spend fifty extra cents a day keeping her locked up. It’s  win-win.

She really does have the look of someone having a bit of an epiphany:

The sustainable cities made from mud

Where the BBC extols the virtue of buildings made from mud in a desert climate. “It is the architecture of the future.”

Every year the residents of Djenné gather together to repair and reclay the mosque, supervised by a guild of senior masons. … Everyone takes part. Boys and girls mix the mud, women bring the water and masons direct the activity.

Because buildings that require the *entire* community, down to children, to labor to repair on an ongoing, annual and permanent basis… sure, that’s “sustainable.”

Much is made of the mud architecture of Yemen. Great. Ummm… what was the last great contribution to science or engineering or philosophy or medicine to come out of Yemen?

I imagine Britain will be seeing a lot of mud buildings soon enough. As modern Britain falls to the third world, the millions of invading colonizers will, after tearing down what the natives built over a course of centuries, construct their new mud-filled civilization using the wrack and ruin they stand upon. I’m not sure how great mud will be as a construction material on an island that gets fairly constant rainfall, but, hey, such questions are inappropriate in this new world of Other Ways Of Knowing.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been shot:

UPDATE: Not just “shot” but”assassinated.”

Shinzo Abe in Serious Condition After Being Shot

One hopes the security around members of the Supreme Court is on the ball.

UPDATE:

Japan ex-PM Abe assassinated while making election campaign speech

Attacker apparently used homemade gun – NHK

Huh. Abe was apparently shot *twice* with a homemade gun… so it clearly wasn’t an average zip gun.

Biden Sold a Million Barrels From US Strategic Petroleum Reserve to China-Owned Gas Giant

At a time when gasoline is intensely expensive, selling gas to a foreign adversary seems a little weird. but then, there’s this “huh” detail…

Biden’s Energy Department in April announced the sale of 950,000 Strategic Petroleum Reserve barrels to Unipec, the trading arm of the China Petrochemical Corporation. That company, which is commonly known as Sinopec, is wholly owned by the Chinese government. …  Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, is tied to Sinopec. In 2015, a private equity firm he cofounded bought a $1.7 billion stake in Sinopec Marketing. Sinopec went on to enter negotiations to purchase Gazprom in March, one month after the Biden administration sanctioned the Russian gas giant.

Huh.

HUH.

I kinda wonder who this would have gone over had it been Trumps kid…

The future is now!

Drone carrying 11 guns found stuck in tree near Canada-U.S. border along St. Clair River

According to THIS ARTICLE, a drone of this kind runs around $20,000. That’s a lot. But the payload is 11 handguns… purchased in the US for perhaps $200 each, sold in Canada for up to $3000 each, the profit would be about $30,800 per run: you could simply throw the drone away each time in still rake in substantial cash profit. Fly it two or three times – a job of a few hours – and you’ve got yourself a decent yearly salary right there.

Illegal? Sure. Wrong? Ummm… Given what current Canadian dictator Justin Trudeau has said about Canadians not having the right to defend themselves, delivering them the *means* of self defense is not wrong. Sadly, of course, these gun are highly unlikely to be going to average Canadians, but more likely gang members, “migrants” and other members of the criminal element… but the potential still stands for simple robotics to be useful for delivering the means of self defense to regular people. Further afield, drone deliveries could be used to drop off ammo (bullets, grenades, rockets, etc.) to Ukrainian defense forces. There, of course, care would have to be taken to make sure that that drone delivering weapons to you won’t be using those weapons *on* you. Similarly, the use of drones along the US-Canadian border would have to be done with care; I would not be surprised if authoritarian, anti-human-rights types like “Fang Fang Swalwell” wouldn’t sabotage the effort by swapping out good guns for compromised weapons, or even weapons that have poison or polonium dusted onto them.

Two days after a looney bugman decided to shoot up an Independence Day parade, someone went and kerploded the Georgia Guidestones. If you don’t know what those were…  well, read up on ’em and marvel at the weirdness.

The Georgia Guidestones demolished after explosion ‘destroyed’ portion, GBI says

The lesson to be drawn:

And of course…

Not related apart from “what THE HELL is this noise?” The downfall of new York City continues apace as an old man (ah, crap, he’s younger’n *me*) is sent to jail because he defended himself against a violent assault:

New York City: not even once.

Not lovin’ it! Fed-up Russians are served MOLDY burgers in their replacement McDonald’s restaurants after the chain left the country due to the invasion of Ukraine

Whoops.

The photos there are *not* appetizing. Of course it’s impossible to say that they are legit. All the photos there are closeups of moldy buns and insect legs in burgers and fries… none at least in that article show the food actually in context of being within the former McDonalds restaurants. The bug legs could be added in for effect; the burgers might be old. But it could all be honest reporting, too.

You wouldn’t think it would be *that* hard to maintain standards when you have the same facilities, presumably the same supply chain and presumably much the same staff. But I guess here we are.

I have no idea who this weirdo is. There are far, FAR too many of them in the world, with their rampaging narcissism and LookitMeAintISpecial makeup, to even begin to catalog them. That said, what she says in the first few seconds of this clip is *fascinating:*

the most hurtful response I get when I speak about my sexuality is “I don’t care”.’

Get used to it. Because most people *don’t* care. Not just about your sexuality, but about your religion, your politics, your mental diseases, your tragic backstory… about YOU. And you trying to make every damn thing about you makes people care all the less.

I’ve said it before: there is a flaw in the human operating system that makes seeing oneself as a victim, as the oppressed, as the loser in the great game of life as a *desirable* thing. These are the people who get outraged at, say, British people proudly hang up the Union Jack and want to maintain Britishness in Britain; Americans who do not feel automatic and utter shame about America because our history was not ethical purity from the get-go; any man who is not ashamed to be a man, any woman who wants to be a feminine woman. These people *live* on feeling hated, whether they actually are or not. And a few decades ago… sure, they would have been. But when I was a kid in the 80’s that time was largely already past (with, of course, loudmouthed exceptions). My generation was raised on “everybody is ok, don’t be a dick about it.” You could not turn on an “after school special” or a “very special episode” without getting hammered with The Message.

So… they look out into the world and *don’t* see the hate surrounding them that it seems they feel the need for. So they do one or both of two things:

1) They just dream up that hate anyway, and attribute it to anything that isn’t 100% affirming and validating

2) They ramp up their own weirdness until they start pushing buttons, get pushback, and then bask in the warm glow of their oppression. See: Antifa, BLM, Drag Queen Story Time, “Pride” parades featuring things that would get an NC-17 rating, celebrating grooming.

To this kind of person, the worst thing they can hear is “I don’t hate you. I just don’t care about you. You don’t factor into my thoughts at all.”
